About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for Cathodic Protection Maintenance Services at Fermilab, dated July 8, 2026, with an estimated performance period of October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2029 (one base year with two option years). The work will be performed across the Fermi Batavia Site in both Kane and DuPage Counties in Illinois. The subcontractor must provide all qualified management, supervision, personnel, materials, tools, supplies, and equipment to complete monthly and annual inspections of cathodic protection systems protecting underground natural gas piping and water piping infrastructure.

The subcontractor shall perform inspections and testing of 31 test stations on underground natural gas piping and 19 impressed current stations/rectifiers on water piping and test beams. Monthly inspections are required for impressed current stations on test beams and water piping, while annual inspections are required for passive cathodic protection on natural gas piping. All equipment and meters must be calibrated and certified, with certifications provided in the bid package, annual written report, and as requested. The subcontractor must coordinate daily with the assigned Fermilab Service Coordinator, immediately notify the coordinator of any performance deficiencies or maintenance issues via phone followed by written email documentation, and perform routine maintenance including wire reconnection, cap and fuse replacement, voltage adjustment, and equipment cleaning. Deliverables include monthly reports provided within one week of completion and annual reports provided within twelve business days of completion, each containing measurements, graphs comparing current values against historical and design values, and suggested repairs. The Fermilab Subcontract Specialist is Seth Mercil (smercil@fnal.gov) and the Point of Contact is Mandy Hoskins (mhoskins@fnal.gov).
