About this file
This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) file for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History's (MDAH) Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a general introductory film project at the Eudora Welty House & Garden. The RFQ seeks a contractor to produce a subtitled orientation film not exceeding 12 minutes, with the project budget hoped to be under $100,000 (excluding hardware and installation). The film will be shown in a small theater space in the visitor center and must be delivered in AVI and MP4 digital formats at 4K resolution. The project will utilize existing archival materials from MDAH, with the primary goal of providing knowledge about Eudora Welty's life and importance to visitors aged 12 and older.
Key details include the reproduction rights being licensed for an indefinite term, with potential use at the site in Mississippi and on the MDAH website or YouTube channel. The core working group will consist of approximately 5 MDAH staff members and 3-5 non-MDAH content experts. The film is expected to primarily use archival footage, with new filming to be determined collaboratively. The project emphasizes creating an engaging presentation that innovatively uses technology and techniques to tell Welty's story. No dramatic reenactments are planned, and the film will be captioned in English only. The selected firm will need to conduct some research and potentially pay honorariums or fees for filming locations or subjects.
