About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the Eudora Welty House & Garden (EWHG) Children's Introductory Film Request for Qualifications (RFQ) issued by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH). The RFQ seeks a vendor to produce a subtitled orientation film targeting children under 12 years old, with a maximum runtime of 7 minutes, to be displayed in the EWHG visitor center. The Q&A document provides detailed responses to 56 specific questions from potential bidders, covering aspects such as project scope, creative vision, technical requirements, budget expectations, and film production details. Key specifications include a project budget not expected to exceed $60,000, delivery in AVI and MP4 digital formats at 4K resolution, and a focus on introducing children to Eudora Welty's life, contributions, and home.

The document reveals that MDAH owns many archival photographs and materials related to Welty, with copyright maintained by the Welty family/estate. The film will be shown in a small theater space seating approximately 15 people and may also be streamed to schools. MDAH is open to creative approaches, including potential animation, and emphasizes that the children's film should have a distinctly different look, feel, and tone compared to a planned general audience film. Reproduction rights for used images should be licensed for an indefinite term, with potential use at the site, on the website, YouTube channel, and in school streaming. The project timeline indicates completion within one year, with no requirement for four-season shots of the house or garden.
