LSC Kingwood Fire Science Water Line and Septic System Project – Septic System Scope of Work
This is a Scope of Work (SOW) document for the LSC Kingwood Fire Science Water Line and Septic System Project in Texas. The document outlines the septic system component of a larger infrastructure project at Lone Star College's Kingwood campus. The scope encompasses the design, permitting, and installation of a new septic system to serve the Fire Science facility. The project includes site preparation, excavation, system installation, and connection to existing infrastructure. The SOW specifies technical requirements for the septic tank, drain field, and related components in compliance with applicable Texas environmental and health codes. The document establishes performance standards, material specifications, and quality assurance requirements for all work performed.
The septic system installation must meet all local and state regulatory requirements, including approval from the appropriate environmental and health departments. The contractor is responsible for obtaining necessary permits prior to construction and for conducting soil testing to determine appropriate system sizing and drain field design. Work includes coordination with other project trades, particularly the water line installation component, to ensure proper integration of utilities. The SOW details inspection and testing protocols that must be completed before the system is placed into service, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards before project completion and final acceptance.

SCOPE OF WORK
ON-SITE SEWAGE FACILITY (OSSF)
Project: Kingwood Fire Training Facility Pavilion – Lone Star College
Location: 20000 Kingwood Dr, Porter, TX 77365
1. Project Overview Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision required to construct, install, and commission a complete Aerobic On-Site Sewage Facility (OSSF) utilizing a drip irrigation disposal system for the Kingwood Fire Training Facility Pavilion. All work must be performed by a registered OSSF installer and conform to all applicable Montgomery County and TCEQ state rules and policies.
2. System Specifications & Capacity Requirements
• The system shall be constructed to accommodate a maximum daily usage of 272 Gallons Per Day (GPD).
• The system shall utilize an application rate of 0.20 GAL/SF/DAY.
• The contractor shall prepare a minimum required trench bottom of 1,360 square feet and install the engineered drip area across 2,560 square feet.
3. Equipment and Tank Installation
• Tankage: Furnish, excavate, and install a 500-gallon pretreatment tank, an 800-gallon Clearstream Treatment Unit, and a 1,080-gallon pump tank. A chlorinator is not required for this specific design.
• Pumps: Furnish and install all required pumping equipment, specifically a Simplex Effluent Pump (Goulds 20 EB 1/2 HP), a 2-inch Goulds Solids Pump inside the dosing tank, and a 0.5 HP Goulds 20 GPM Effluent Pump.
• Filtration: Install an Aztec Dual 100 Micron Filter to ensure effluent clarity and protect the drip infrastructure.
4. Piping, Electrical, and Drip Field Construction
• Supply Piping: Install Schedule 40 or DWV thick-wall pipe for all connections running from the training facility building to the septic system.
• Drip Tubing: Install Netafim 0.91 GPH drip tubing throughout the designated absorption area. The installer may make minor adjustments to the drip field layout to avoid existing tree roots and swales.
• Electrical: Ensure all electrical wiring and panel connections strictly conform to the National Electric Code (NEC).
5. Site Grading and Surface Restoration
• Drainage: The site must be carefully graded to ensure positive stormwater runoff away from the system. The contractor shall crown the absorption area and construct drainage swales to adequately convey stormwater away from the disposal zone.
• Landscaping: Upon completion of the subsurface installation, the entire disposal area must be thoroughly seeded or sodded to prevent erosion.
6. Inspections and Closeout
• Open Trench Inspection: No component of this system shall be covered or backfilled without the written approval of the permitting authority after a visual inspection. The installer must contact the Environmental Office prior to 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the inspection to confirm the scheduled time.
• Maintenance Agreement: The Owner shall establish a certified maintenance provider contract for the ongoing operation and testing of the system prior to final sign-off.
