About this file
This Statement of Work is issued by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for portable fire extinguisher services within the Abilene District (Highway District 8). TxDOT seeks vendor services to provide preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, repair, recharging, and hydrostatic testing of portable fire extinguishers across multiple TxDOT facilities. The estimated inventory comprises 822 total fire extinguishers distributed across 18 service locations, with quantities ranging from 2.5 lb to 20 lb capacities. Annual inspections must be scheduled with TxDOT representatives at least three business days in advance and performed between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding federal and state holidays. All serviced units must be returned to their original location within 48 hours of notification. The contract term and renewal options are not specified in this Statement of Work document.
Pricing terms indicate that vendors must provide all parts necessary to complete work and furnish cost estimates to the designated TxDOT representative prior to purchasing parts, with parts paid at actual cost plus an approved percentage markup. TxDOT will reimburse a lump sum flat rate for round-trip transportation from the vendor's service location, though no trip charge applies to locations within 25 miles of the vendor's facility. Vendors must hold a current Texas Department of Insurance Fire Extinguisher License Type B and possess a minimum of three years' experience in portable fire extinguisher services within the past five years. All work must comply with NFPA 10 standards, ANSI/UL 711, UL 1093, UL 154, and UL 299 specifications. Performance warranty requires all work to meet applicable standards with a one-year defect-free guarantee, and material warranty requires 12 months coverage for parts and labor, with vendor ultimate responsibility for warranty fulfillment.
