About this file

This specification document outlines the technical requirements and features of two advanced video detection systems for traffic management applications in Texas: the Vantage Next system and the VantageRadius radar-based detection platform. The Vantage Next system is a state-of-the-art video detection platform designed to capture real-time traffic data including turning movement counts, vehicle detection, and bicycle differentiation through SmartCycle technology. The system features a powerful processor supporting future functional growth, operates on either 12 or 24 VDC at 5W typical power consumption, and delivers compressed digital video output in MPEG-4 and H.264 formats at resolutions up to 1024x768 pixels with adjustable frame rates of 5, 15, or 30 frames per second. The system includes both a video processor unit and a Central Control Unit (CCU) powered by 110/220 VAC at 50/60Hz, supports up to 128 total outputs and 64 total inputs through extension modules, and offers Ethernet and DCAM interface communications capabilities.

The VantageRadius system provides advanced radar-based vehicle detection using 24 GHz K-band radar technology capable of tracking up to 64 objects with detection ranges up to 600 feet for the VantageRadius+ sensor head and 325 feet for the standard VantageRadius sensor head. The radar system accurately measures vehicle speed (0-150 mph with ±1 mph accuracy), incorporates integrated high-resolution video streaming from a 1.3MP CMOS camera with a 70-degree viewing angle and 0.1 Lux minimum illumination, and operates across extreme environmental conditions ranging from -35°F to +165°F with an IP67-rated enclosure. Both systems feature CAT5e/CAT6e cable connectivity for simplified installation, are NEMA TS-2 compliant and FCC Part 15 Class A certified, include 32 detection zones with low lifecycle costs, and come with a three-year limited warranty. The systems support mounting configurations in 19-inch rack-mount or NEMA shelf-mount Control and Communications Units capable of managing up to four sensors and processors.

VantageRadius®

Radar technology and streaming video for stop bar and advanced detection

Radar with choice of two sensor types for presence detection

The VantageRadius® system has a choice of two sensor types – the VantageRadius sensor head, designed specifically for stop bar detection at the intersection, and the VantageRadius+ sensor head with the same stop bar detection capabilities but with added advanced detection.

The VantageRadius and VantageRadius+ sensor heads can be installed together at a single intersection allowing for flexibility in designing the right detection for specific traffic engineering needs. VantageRadius and VantageRadius+ sensor heads utilizes the latest 4D, high-resolution radar technology, incorporating distance, speed, angle and height measurements to accurately detect vehicles approaching the intersection in any weather condition.

Detection in any weather condition

Forward-fire radar for accurate vehicle detection range to 600’ – eliminating occlusion

High resolution video streaming for intersection monitoring

Using radar and Iteris’ enhanced detection algorithms ensures that VantageRadius can accurately detect vehicles and speeds as they approach the intersection, enabling the intersection to operate at its peak efficiency. The system is built on the simple-to-use Vantage Next® platform and continues the Iteris tradition of ease of installation and simple configuration.

Monitor your intersection with live video stream

Included with both the VantageRadius sensor and VantageRadius+ is a high resolution digital camera that streams live video back to a central management location, providing agencies with the ability to monitor and take action on the operation of their intersection. This video stream can also be used in place of other surveillance cameras to stream live video to your traffic management center video wall and mobile applications from Iteris.
