About this file
This is a product specification document issued by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the purchase of a high-capacity forced-air convection oven for the Abilene District. The specification details a single unit with a chamber capacity between 10.6 and 11 cubic feet, featuring forced-air convection with horizontal airflow, a maximum operating temperature of 450°F, and temperature control accuracy of 1°C or better. The oven must include a UL-listed control panel with a Watlow digital temperature controller, LED temperature indication, adjustable safety controls, and be available in either electric or gas-fired models operating at 120V, 50/60Hz. The equipment must be new in current production, with heavy-duty double doors featuring explosion-venting latches, high-silicone rubber gaskets, minimum 4-inch insulation, two reinforced nickel-plated wire shelves rated for 100 pounds each, and stainless steel interior construction. Delivery is required to TxDOT's facility at 4250 North Clack, Abilene, Texas 79601. The specification references the Gilson Company Model BO-355ERS as an example of acceptable quality and type, though equivalent equipment meeting or exceeding all specification requirements will be considered.
Vendors submitting alternative bids must provide comprehensive product literature and detailed specification sheets demonstrating compliance with or superiority to the specified requirements, with clear justification of any deviations. All equipment must meet applicable federal and State of Texas safety, health, lighting, and noise standards in effect at the time of manufacture. The vendor must warrant the equipment for a minimum of 12 months from the date of acceptance into TxDOT inventory, with the warranty terms and list of authorized Texas service dealers provided with the unit. TxDOT will monitor vendor performance regularly, with unsatisfactory performance potentially resulting in negative performance reports, contract cancellation, or other remedies. Exceptional performance may be recognized for early delivery, product upgrades at no additional cost, or exceptional customer service and technical assistance.
