About this file
This document is a Departmental Materials Specification from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) regarding the furnishing of aluminum substrates for signs, including aluminum sheet or coil and extruded sign panels. The specification outlines the material requirements for aluminum sheet or coil, which must conform to ASTM B209 for Alloys 6061-T-6 or 5052-H38, and be free of defects. Aluminum extrusions for signs must conform to ASTM B221 for Alloys 6061 or 6063, and T4 or T6 temper. The specification also requires the furnishing of mill test reports for the aluminum materials.
The related state and local contract opportunity is for Aluminum Sign Blanks, requested by the Statewide Procurement Division (SPD), a division of the Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) in Texas. The major customer for these items is the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The contract does not provide details on quantities, response dates, award dates, or the term of the contract.
