SECTION 012300 - ALTERNATES
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. An alternate provides an amount proposed by the Contractor and stated on the Bid Form for certain work that will adjust the contract amount if the Government decides to accept the corresponding change in the products, materials, equipment, systems or installation methods described in the Contract Documents.
B. The amount for an alternate is the total net adjustment from the contract to incorporate or deduct the alternate work into the project Work.
C. Alternate work shall include miscellaneous devices, accessory objects and similar items incidental to or required for a complete installation, whether or not mentioned as part of the alternate description.

1.2 PROCEDURES
A. Selection: Acceptance or rejection of each alternate will be made by the Government prior to award of the Contract, and the contract amount will be adjusted accordingly for accepted alternates to establish the contract price.
B. Notification: Immediately following award of the Contract, the Contractor shall notify each party involved, in writing, whether each alternate has been accepted or rejected.
C. Coordination: The Contractor shall modify or adjust affected adjacent work as necessary to completely and fully integrate the accepted alternate work into the project Work.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 SCHEDULE OF ALTERNATES
Alternate A: Removal of Allowances No. 1-A and No. 1-B from the scope of the contract.
Allowances No. 1-A and 1-B will be procured and furnished by the Government. With the removal of the Allowances 1-A and 1-B, the Contractor’s project schedule shall include all activities required to install the tapestries within the Option No. 3 duration. The Contractor’s project schedule shall include all activities required to fabricate and furnish the tapestries starting in the Base construction contract period, complete and ready for installation no later than during the Option 3 period, such that all tapestry fabrication and installation shall be completed within the overall project duration. With the removal of Allowances 1-A and 1-B, the Contractor is still responsible for the transportation, storage and installation of the tapestry panels, and the coordination of the cable assembly vendor’s work with the Government’s tapestry artist
