Vendor Question Response Date Government Response

#1 11/29/2017

Page 2 of the statement of work, CLIN 002 states “Provide a design for reinstalling or replacing existing jury chairs to accommodate appropriate clearances with newly installed floor mounted monitors.” Please specify the required clearances that need to be maintained.

12/6/2017

See Courts Design Guide pages 62 & 63 regarding design requirements for jury boxes. In regards to space clearance between new monitors and seating the design team is required to match existing clearances measurements between monitor stations and seating in their design.

#2 11/29/2017

Please provide most recent as built plans including electrical plans.

12/6/2017

See drawings provided including cover page for drawings used to construct new building.

Review and request specific drawings from this sheet if needed.

#3 11/29/2017

Per sheet E-101, please clarify if the FB shown by the Lectern is the FB that is existing. Are we to remove and replace this one or add a new one?

12/6/2017

The existing floor box we viewed on site during the walk through (FSR FL-500P) is to remain in place. The floor box shown on E- 101 is a new floor box that is to be furnished and installed as part of this contract. As stated in sheet keynote 1 "…Confirm exact location with the Court prior to installation."

#4 11/29/2017

Per sheet E-101, there is only one FB shown on the plans along the wall at the bottom of the page, but 2 FB’s were identified during the job walk. Please clarify if we need to add another FB, or if the other FB is to remain as is.

12/6/2017

Please furnish and install one new floor box along the wall at the approximate location shown. Please remove the existing floor boxes along the wall, and fill the remaining penetrations with concrete in preparation to be covered by carpet.

#5 11/29/2017

Existing Floor boxes being supplanted by new – what process is requested for the floor boxes no longer being used?

Abandon in place? Remove and Patch floor? Remove conductors? Remove Conduit? 12/6/2017

Unused floor boxes must not pose a safety hazzard and be seemlessly integrated with the carpet and décor.

#6 11/29/2017

Existing Floor boxes not being supplanted by new – In Courtroom A near the door to the restroom opposite of the jury seating, there is floor box that is not indicated on E-101. What is the intent for this floor box? 12/6/2017

If the floor box is not a part of the design for AV, then it should also be made safe and integrated into the carpet and décor.

#7 11/29/2017

In-ceiling electrical work may fall under the decibel level of disturbance.

However, in the work below Courtroom A, we will need to remove a significant amount of ceiling tile in the Marshall’s office area to facilitate the work. Can this work be done during normal business hours? Will there be special security requirements to perform work in the Marshall’s office area? 11/30/2017

If the work makes noise, creates dust of any kind, or disrupts the tenant the work must be done after business hours. Contractors must be cleared per SOW Section 4. Any work within Marshall space a Marshall must be present.

#8 11/29/2017

Please provide brand and model for existing ceiling tile.

12/11/2017

Attempt to match existing tile however you are permitted to take tiles from another location to replace damaged tiles then replace all the tiles in the area you removed tiles with new tiles that are similar to ones replaced. For example if you use tiles from the CSO locker room to replace damaged tiles is other areas then replace all the tiles in the locker room with new that appear similar to existing tiles is adjacent areas.

#9 12/5/2017

Sheet E-502 states "Conduit Stub w/ nylon bushing to equipment rack, TYP".

Is the contractor responsible for running a new conduit to the AV room? What size conduits are required for the jury boxes since we do not have wire/cable size that will be routed thru conduit to determine conduit size? 12/15/2017

The contractor is responsible for furnishing and installing all raceway systems specified.

Please refer to the AV Raceway Riser Diagrams on sheets E-601 and E-602 for specific EMT sizes and quantities.

#10 12/5/2017

Are floor penetrations for Courtrooms C & E permitted as this floor is post tension supported cable? 12/6/2017

Yes - contractor must survey/scan desired location for penetration to ensure tension cable is not present.

#11 12/11/2017

For Courtrooms C and E, it is noted that the contractor will be required to route conduit from the Jury Boxes to the AV room. Please confirm that (8) shielded CAT6A cables are required to be routed back to the new AV room from the Jury Box area. If the contractor chooses to route any required conduit in the ceiling of the floor below, please confirm that the existing slab in that area is post-tensioned and that the slab needs to be x-rayed prior to any core drilling.

12/15/2017

Refer to the AV Raceway Riser Diagram on sheet E-602 for specific EMT sizes and quantities. Refer to item 10 above. No cables (associated with this contract) will be routed from jury box to the AV Room.

Courtroom floors (C & E) do have post tension cables and the floors will require xray prior to penetration.

#12 12/11/2017

For Courtroom A, please confirm that any ceiling or wall work in the hallway between the AV room and Courtroom A to accommodate emitter conduit routing needs to be finished to match the existing plaster finish.

12/12/2017

Yes, any demo work to walls, ceilings must be returned to original appearance. Demo plan must be approved by GSA.

#13 12/11/2017

Please confirm that it is acceptable to route cooling unit piping and/or electrical conduit in the stairwell adjacent to the AV room for Courtroom A- provided appropriate firestopping methods were used. If so, could the piping/conduit be routed exposed in the stairwell, or would a small chase be required to protect the piping? 12/15/2017

Not acceptable to route conduit/pipe in stair well as this would require core drilling thru historic torrazzo landings. Conduit/pipes must be routed thru floor in AV room above suspended ceiling in floor below.

#14 12/11/2017

SOW indicates construction work hours from 8am to 5pm. Is night work acceptable?

12/11/2017

Gov't only requires work that exceeds 84db to be done after normal business hours. Other work may be accomplished after normal business hours at no additional labor rate cost to the Gov't.

#15 12/11/2017

Per GSA Team Infrastructure Coordination Narrative, Section E, Mechanical & Electrical Requirements…GSA Team to design, specify, furnish and install all mechanical systems required to dissipate the heat loads…Does the GSA require stamp design drawings for both Mechanical & Electrical?

12/11/2017

No, GSA engineers will review/approve drawings provided by the contractor.
