About this file

This document is a Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct exhibit for third-party contractors working with San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC), a public hospital and clinic system in San Mateo County, California. The County of San Mateo seeks proposals for membership within a Group Purchasing Organization to support SMMC's operations across its acute-care hospital, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities. The code of conduct establishes compliance requirements and expectations for all contractors engaged by SMMC, with an emphasis on adherence to federal and state healthcare program regulations and accurate submission of required reports, including Disproportionate Share Hospital payment information.

Contractors are required to report suspected violations of federal healthcare program requirements to the SMMC Compliance Officer within fifteen days of discovery and may utilize the SMMC Disclosure Program by contacting the Compliance Hotline at (800) 965-9775. The agreement prohibits contractors from offering or accepting kickbacks, bribes, payments, gifts, or things of value in relation to business or regulatory relationships, and prohibits engagement in activities that may interfere with contractual duties or involve misuse of SMMC or County property and resources. Contractors must cooperate fully and honestly during compliance audits and other external agency reviews. Non-compliance with federal and state healthcare requirements or failure to report violations may result in contract termination and other penalties as permitted by law. By executing the agreement, an authorized contractor representative certifies understanding of and commitment to comply with this Code of Conduct.
