Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System
Web-Based Data Collection System
ED-IES-13-R-0012
RFI Questions and Answers
1 – What programming language is being used for the data collection system? Currently, the data collection system uses the .NET framework primarily with C Sharp and Javascript. For the database itself, we use Microsoft SQL server.
2 – What programming language is being used for the Help Desk Application (Task 6.4)? Currently ASP Net 3.0 is what is being used for the Help Desk Application.
3 – What type of contract will it be – fixed, cost reimbursable, etc… The contract type is still being determined at this time, but we will update these questions as the information becomes available and it will also be listed in the RFP when it is issued.
4 – When does the current contract end and will there be a period of transition? The current contract ends in April 2014. The new contract will begin in April 2013 and the first data collection will be in the Fall of 2013. There will be an overlap of approximately one year between the two contracts.
5- Under Subtask 3.1 of the Draft Performance Work Statement that was posted on FedBizOpps, the Department describes a web-based data collection software system which is Microsoft based. Is the software described being supplied by IES and the vendor will then take over and maintain/enhance the software or is IES asking the vendor to provide its own software solution for data collection?
The data collection system will stay in place and be maintained/enhanced by the new contractor.
