About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Request for Information (RFI) regarding Large Caliber Penetrators Tail Kits. The government is seeking information about a potential contract for three to five tail kits, with an anticipated contract award in FY27 Q1. The project involves an existing design at Level 2 Technical Data Package (TDP) with level 2 drawings, for which the government will retain all data rights. The RFI is requesting capability for flight testing on non-government aircraft, with the entire effort including flight testing to be completed within a 9-12 month period of performance.
Key details include that the specific aircraft for the munition has not yet been identified, and the vendor will be responsible for store-to-aircraft integration. The contract type, funding profile, and whether there will be a small business lead or teamed approach are still undetermined, as the government is in the acquisition planning phase. No funding has been secured at this time, and the government has not made a final decision about potentially replacing an incumbent, stating that all options will be considered.
