QUESTIONS/ANSWERS FOR FY15 GENERAL RUDDER FALL REPAIR DTMA93Q1500008

1. Question: Item 22. I am concerned about under deck additional gussets and supports for the refurbished crane and will not know what is needed until receipt of engineered drawings. Do you want a separate line item on our quote with an assumption of gussets / labor (subject to change upon receipt of Drawings) Or should I just make a note that (additional foundation and support gussets are not included in this quote)

Answer: Quote should include estimated allowance for installation. The crane being installed is of very similar capacity and reach as the existing crane, therefore it is assumed that the loads and moments to be transferred to the ship would be very similar. It is expected that additional under deck stiffening would be minimal.

2. Question: Is the classroom insulation being renewed?

Answer: Yes, bulkhead insulation it to be renewed as detailed in drawing 1355-S39-1-1 (drawing located in original package)

3. Question: The insolation will have to be renewed using drawing to determine what type and thickness I see that the overhead drawing is not applicable so is the overhead insulation not being removed.

Answer: Overhead insulation if not being renewed, however, new insulation similar to surrounding areas will have to be installed in way of hatches which are to be removed and inserted.

4. Question: Work item 13 states lightweight panels.

Can DOT provide more information to acceptable panel.

Are we talking Thermax or honeycomb?

Answer: Provide new joiner liners and new joiner bhds for the new Classroom and offices. New joiner liners shall meet regulatory body requirements for fire protection, Jamestown STACO softcore panel system or equal. Joiner liners shall have a color/pattern that approximates the ships existing finish scheme. The panels shall be supported by a system of top and bottom channels, and vertical H-posts. Panels shall be capable of being removed and reinstalled without damage.
