EMBANKMENT MATERIAL DESCRIPTIONS
Zone 1 - Existing sandy silt and low plasticity clay
Zone 2 - Existing Wastefill; sandy silt, and low plasticity clay
Zone 3 - Rockfill; boulders, cobbles and gravel
Zone 5a - Embankment filter sand
Zone 5b - Vertical sand filter trench placed within biopolymer supported slurry trench
Zone 6 - Gravel drain
Zone 7 - Buttress fill
NOTES
1. This chart was prepared to show the contractor anticipated sources of excavated materials and their proposed distribution for the project. This distribution of material should be used only as a guide and should be modified during progress of the work to fit field conditions.
2. The waste quantities and shrinkage factor are estimates and may vary.
3. Drawing depicts a typical embankment valley section. Embankment filter sand thickness increases near the left and right abutments. See (60011) for the typical abutment section.
4. Stripping and topsoil placement, erosion control channel excavation/placement, dam crest road sawcutting/disposal, and dam crest road base/asphalt concrete placement not shown.
5. Zone 1 required excavation includes bedrock excavation (where encountered) and outfall excavation.
6. Quantity estimate of Zone 5b material is the overbuilt quantity, which includes material used to construct the vertical sand filter trench from the initial excavation platform at El. 2535. The estimated neat line quantity after the final excavation is 4,100 CY.
7. Quaternary alluvium contact is interpreted. Actual foundation contact may differ from what is shown. Refer to specifications for geologic investigations and drawings.
8. All dimensions are in feet unless otherwise noted.

NOTES
1. Toe drain outfall pipes are 24-inch diameter solid wall perforated and non perforated HDPE SDR 17 as shown. Refer to specification.
2. Minimum slope of the toe drain and outfall pipe is 0.003.
3. Maximum toe drain pipe bend shall not exceed 22.5 degrees and a minimum of 5 feet long straight section will be placed between each bend.
4. Pipe slope varies at abutments. Maintain minimum sand and gravel thickness.
5. Place a minimum of 1.0 foot gravel drain around perforated pipe, and a minimum of 2.0 feet of filter sand beneath the gravel drain.
6. Existing 8-inch diameter toe drain to be removed where encountered, see specifications for abandonment of remaining pipe.
7. Non-perforated pipe to extend 10-feet on either side of inspection wells and 20-feet from concrete weir box, then connected to perforated seepage collector pipe.
8. Toe drain cleanouts are 45 degrees consisting of 24-inch diameter non-perforated pipe for 5 vertical feet below ground surface. See (60016).
9. All dimensions and stations are ground distance in feet.
10. Contour interval 2.0 feet.
11. Existing dam elevation varies.

0 140'70' NOTES
1. Trench to be supported by biopolymer slurry. See specifications for slurry composition and installation procedures.
2. Trench to be constructed prior to final excavation from the bottom of the initial excavation depth El. 2535.0, see (60006).
3. Biopolymer slurry to be degraded with chemical injection. See specifications for injection composition and procedures.
4. The top of the vertical sand trench must be cleaned and protected to provide a continuous contact with Zone 5b placed above the bottom of the excavation.
5. Geology interpretation is approximate, refer to drawings and specifications for geology investigations. Embankment zoning and geology are projected.
