About this file
This is a bid specification document issued by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for the procurement of salt brine maker equipment. The specification details requirements for a self-contained salt brine production system capable of producing a minimum of 3,600 gallons of salt brine per hour for de-icing and anti-icing operations. The specified equipment is a Varitech Model SB600 or equivalent, which utilizes rock salt and water as feedstock. The document does not specify quantities, response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder meetings, award dates, or contract terms and renewal options.
The specification establishes technical and operational requirements for the brine maker, including an up-flow design for consistent salinity, double-wall secondary containment with 110 percent capacity, heavy-duty UV-stabilized construction, automated full storage shut-off capability, manual operator-controlled salinity adjustment, tethered remote control for unloading from up to 15 feet, electrical requirements of 120 volts at 20 amps, and a stainless steel unloading pump rated for a minimum of 110 gallons per minute. The document does not address pricing terms, set-asides, incumbents, funding sources, amounts, or other commercial terms.
