The purchase of this Dome Visual System is part of the Aerospace Medical Equipment Needs (AMEN) Sustainment 3 acquisition program which is fully funded (FY22, FY23).
The Dome Visual System supports the work of the AAM-510 Safe Operations in Aerospace Research (SOAR) Labs concerning advanced displays, aircraft controls, communication procedures, pilot capabilities, and training requirements. The SOAR Lab conducts research activities in response to requirements generated through the FAA Aviation Safety (AVS) Research, Engineering, and Development requirement processes. The research accomplished assists operational units within the agency with the ability to answer human factors questions necessary to support or enhance certification, development, administrative, or operational decisions.
The Dome Visual System will be a shared asset across a number of flight simulators.
The contract is to be firm fixed price.

If dismantling of existing facilities or equipment or other measures are necessary to complete the installation, full restoration to pre-installation conditions must be the responsibility of the Contractor.
The Contractor must integrate all system components, ensuring proper operation when connected to existing system components, and demonstrating system readiness to perform. Installation and testing of the equipment must not disrupt or interfere with, nor cause any disruption or interference with the FAA operations in any way.
2.6. Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP)
Upon completion, the contractor must test functionality of the system with the Advanced Rotorcraft Simulator to make sure it is working in accordance with the Approved Test Procedures (ATP) in accordance with Contractor (OEM) Operating/Maintenance Instruction Manuals). If any deficiencies are found during testing the contractor must correct and the system affected will be retested prior to Government Acceptance. All testing performed by the contractor, both prior to shipment at the Contractor's location and at the CAMI facility, must be done in accordance with an AAM-510 approved acceptance test procedure. The acceptance test procedure, developed by the contractor, must be documented and submitted to AAM-510 for approval within 30 business days of contract award; AAM- 510 will provide contractor with written notice of any recommended changes within 10 business days of receiving the test procedure.
