Potomac Job Corps Center Project #3771 Vocation Skills Training Complex Steel Disassembly and Salvage May 19, 2017
Responses to contractor questions after pre-bid meeting:
1. Solicitation section C.IV indicates that the scope of work includes removal of HVAC equipment currently stored in a warehouse in Chantilly, VA, but no other information is provided. We would like to visit this site to understand the extent of this requirement. Please advise when we can visit this warehouse.
A visit may be scheduled. A list of the stored material is found in the Vocational Complex and Project Site Survey and Inventory Report. The report can be accessed via the following link:
http://www.solicitationattachments.com/potomacdemo
2. Please confirm who currently holds the tiles to the twelve (12) trailers scheduled to be removed from the site as part of this project.
Will confirm and inform all parties.
3. Please provide a copy of the existing building construction documents and steel shop drawings. The link provided in solicitation section C.II.10 is not active.
The link above should now be active. Please notify the CO if this is not the case.
4. Please provide a copy of the sign in sheet from the 5/11/17 site visit.
See attached sign-in sheet.
5. Is the fire hydrant active? Will it stay in place or be demoed?
The fire hydrant near Building 15 is active and will remain.
6. We are to propose on an option to remove the slab. If it is decided that the slab is not to be removed, will the footers have to be removed?
The slab will be removed. The Scope of Work (SOW) indicates the concrete removal extents.
7. Any gas or electrical terminations?
Yes. These are to be cut and capped according to the extents specified in the SOW. Please refer to the construction drawings and the Vocational Complex and Project Site Survey and Inventory Report for existing location of utilities.
8. Can we be provided with a list of what is in the sea containers? Three sea containers in total? A complete list is found in the Vocational Complex and Project Site Survey and Inventory Report. There are three containers in total.
9. Can we be provided with the model/type of HVAC unit stored in Chantilly, VA? List of items stored with the HVAC unit that is related to this project?
A complete list of the HVAC unit is found in the Vocational Complex and Project Site Survey and Inventory Report.
10. The area where the flat beds and pallets are, does this area have to be landscaped as well?
Yes.
11. .Will other companies aside from those who attended the pre-bid meeting, be able to offer a bid for this project?
Yes, as long as the bidder is SDVOB.

12. The solicitation has language that refers to items being salvaged. Will you list the items that will be salvaged, and give us a location(s) to where the items will be stored? Or, will all items become the property of the contractor?
All items will become property of the contractor.
13. We gathered that the road to be paved is named Bright Street, noted in the Solicitation. Our rep, who went to the pre-bid, showed us a road on Google Maps named Success Ave. Is there a discrepancy here?
We are not sure why Google maps names the street Success Ave., but yes, it is the same street named Bright Street on the center. This is the street to be repaved.
14. We are not an SDVOB but we attended the pre-bid conference anyway. Will a legitimate SDVOB that we partner with, who was not at the pre-bid, be able to submit a bid?
Yes, however, the SDVOB must be the Prime.
15. Section G; G.17, in the solicitation discusses as-built records. This being a demolition job, and we are removing all specified items, is there a need for an as-built?
Any items capped and/or left underground (see SOW) must be marked and identified in an as-built drawing.
16. Has there been any identified hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, pcb’s) on the site which will be an impact to our bid?
No hazardous materials are known to be on the site.
17. It appears that the area where the steel structures are built, could be a landfill or other impoundment. Is there a geotech report available which describes the sub surface properties that we would need to deal with while demolishing the footers/foundations?
A complete geotech report is found in the Vocational Complex and Project Site Survey and Inventory Report.
18. Will we need to obtain a demolition permit for this work?
Obtaining all permits with DCRA is the responsibility of the contractor. Please submit as an option item.
