About this file
This document is a vendor recruitment flyer and forecasted contracting opportunities list from the City of Long Beach's Purchasing Department, outlining how businesses can become vendors and what goods and services the city anticipates purchasing over the coming months.
The City of Long Beach purchases hundreds of millions of dollars in goods and services annually, including vehicle parts, construction contracts, and professional services. The city uses two procurement processes: for purchases under $40,000, the city solicits direct quotes from businesses and selects the lowest qualified bidder; for purchases exceeding $40,000, solicitations are posted to Long Beach Buys, a centralized platform where vendors can view opportunities and submit competitive proposals. Forecasted contracting opportunities as of March 2026 span multiple categories, including consultants and professional services (event production, plan review and inspections, graphic design, grant writing, and housing consultation services), facilities maintenance and construction services (airport landscaping, HVAC parts and supplies, property maintenance), goods and products (envelope supply, event equipment rentals, point of sale devices), and software and technology services (AI integration for call centers, bikeshare software, data privacy management, and WiFi infrastructure).
To become a vendor, businesses must sign up for a free Long Beach Buys account at longbeach.gov/purchasing, search the database for invitations to bid and requests for proposals, and submit responses for opportunities matching their qualifications. The city welcomes participation from small, local, and diverse firms and awards a 5 to 10 percent preference to local businesses for quotes and solicitations. Prospective vendors can register with the city, download bid details, and receive notifications for opportunities through Long Beach Buys. The city also hosts a monthly webinar every third Thursday at 11 a.m. where businesses can learn about procurement opportunities and ask questions. For additional support, vendors can contact Purchasing Customer Service at LBPurchasing@longbeach.gov or 562.570.6200.
