GENERAL

NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR – HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INVESTIGATIONS

A limited hazardous materials site investigation has been conducted at 999 Broad Street, Bridgeport, CT for structural repairs to the Roof Parking Ramp steel framing. The scope of inspection was limited to the representative components projected for impact.

The results of the investigation indicated the presence of lead in the paint on the steel framing. The results indicated that the percentage of lead was below the minimum for the paint to be considered “Lead-Based Paint”.

All steel and metal generated from work tasks (painted or not) shall be segregated and recycled as scrap metal at a scrap metal recycling facility. The recycling of scrap metal (regardless of lead paint concentration) is exempt from USEPA RCRA and CTDEEP Hazardous Waste Regulation.

Suspect asbestos fireproofing material coating the existing steel framing was sampled and determined to be a non-asbestos containing material.

The Contractor is hereby notified that these hazardous materials requiring special management or disposal procedures will be encountered during various construction activities conducted within the project limits. The Contractor will be required to implement appropriate health and safety measures for all construction activities impacting these materials. These measures shall include, but are not limited to, air monitoring, engineering controls, personal protective equipment and decontamination, equipment decontamination and personnel training. AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS WHICH ADDRESS POTENTIAL AND/OR ACTUAL RISK OF
