About this file

The document is a procedural presentation from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) detailing the process for registering public works projects in the DIR compliance system. The presentation provides step-by-step instructions for awarding bodies to complete the PWC-100 form online, with specific requirements for public works projects over $25,000 and maintenance projects over $15,000. These projects must be reported to the California Department of Industrial Relations within 30 days of award, with contractors required to be registered and compliant with labor laws. Key steps include creating an account, entering project information, adding contractor details, and submitting the form.

The presentation outlines significant compliance obligations and potential penalties for non-compliance. Awarding bodies face civil penalties of $100 per day of violation, up to $10,000 per project, and may become ineligible for state funding if they willfully violate requirements on two or more public works contracts within a 12-month period. The documentation covers maintenance project examples (including plumbing, landscaping, HVAC, roofing, and utility system maintenance), emphasizes the importance of accurate contractor licensing and classification information, and provides guidance on completing each section of the online registration form. The process applies to both prime and subcontractors, with requirements to update forms for change orders or additional subcontractors.
