About this file

This is a Data Item Description (DID) for a Technical Data Package (TDP), designated DI-SESS-80776B, approved August 1, 2019. The document serves as a template and specification standard for preparing technical data deliverables required in federal contracts.

A TDP is defined as an authoritative technical description of an item that is clear, complete, and accurate in a form adequate for its intended use. The TDP supports acquisition, production, inspection, engineering, and logistics activities by defining design, configuration, performance requirements, and procedures necessary for effective item performance. TDP deliverables shall comply with MIL-STD-31000B and may be provided in Government-specified format or contractor format as designated on the TDP Option Selection Worksheet. The content requirements include one or more of the following elements: conceptual engineering design data; developmental engineering design data and associated lists; product engineering design data and associated lists (including unique processes, performance ratings, dimensional and tolerance data, critical manufacturing processes, assembly sequences, diagrams, mechanical and electrical connections, physical characteristics, material identification, inspection and test criteria, equipment calibration requirements, quality assurance requirements, hardware marking requirements, certifications, special inspections, environmental and functional testing, vendor substantiation data, software programming requirements, and special consideration items); commercial engineering design data; special inspection equipment design data; special tooling design data; specifications; software documentation; special packaging instructions; and quality assurance provisions. All reference documents cited in the contract, including applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract agreement.
