About this file
This file is a design and reports package for a federal highway infrastructure project. The deliverable supports the North Point Recreation Area parking lot reconstruction project near Pickstown, South Dakota, managed by the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration under solicitation number 6982AF26B000005. The project encompasses the complete redesign and reconstruction of a 98,000 square-foot parking lot servicing a boat ramp facility on the Missouri River's east bank, upstream of the Fort Randall dam.
The design package addresses critical infrastructure work including removal and excavation of existing asphalt and base materials to a depth of 9.5 inches, subexcavation of compromised subgrade soils (3,000 cubic yards), placement of 6 inches of aggregate base material (3,800 tons), and installation of 3.5 inches of asphalt concrete pavement (2,300 tons). Additional scope items include construction of a concrete dumpster pad, ADA-compliant handicap parking stall modifications, and parking lot signing and striping. The design must account for maintaining existing slope conditions with minor adjustments and ensures operational continuity of this high-use summer recreational boating facility. The parking lot will require closure during all construction activities. Principal work quantities total approximately 5,700 cubic yards of roadway excavation in addition to the subexcavation, aggregate base, and asphalt paving components specified above.
