About this file
This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract from the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF) regarding Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner Training. The training is an evidence-based intervention for caregivers of children who have faced abuse, neglect, and/or other trauma, designed to build trust, address physical and emotional needs, and develop children's social competencies. DCF intends to contract with the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, the sole provider of this proprietary training, for $544,400 to make TBRI practitioner training available to Community-Based Care Lead Agencies. This training will support the recruitment and retention of enhanced Level II foster families to serve the population of teens and sibling groups currently in congregate care.
The contract will be funded through the Family First Prevention Services Act Transition Act. DCF has identified TBRI as a promising practice to be offered to the new Level II enhanced foster parents, and there are no known alternative models designed specifically for caregivers based on TBRI's core principles.
