About this file
This is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document for the DARPA Young Faculty Award (YFA) 2027 Research Announcement, issued October 19, 2026. The document provides administrative and technical guidance across eight primary categories: eligibility requirements, personnel qualifications, executive summary submission procedures, full proposal submission guidelines, budget and cost proposals, the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option, the Director's Fellowship Option, and program scope clarifications. Executive summaries must be submitted through the Broad Agency Announcement Tool (BAAT) at https://baa.darpa.mil/ and are mandatory prior to full proposal submission; proposers are limited to one executive summary and one full proposal. Full proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov and must include an official transmittal letter from the applicant's organization. The maximum combined award amounts are $500,000 for the base period (24 months), $500,000 for the Director's Fellowship Option, and $225,000 for the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option, totaling up to $1,225,000; all equipment purchases over $5,000 require vendor quotes.
Eligibility is restricted to tenure-track or tenured faculty at U.S. institutions, or researchers within 12 years of receiving a doctorate at non-profit research institutions offering continuing appointments; researchers at Federal Funded Research and Development Centers, University Affiliated Research Centers, National Laboratories, and other government entities are ineligible. The program funds fundamental research only and does not accept proposals requiring Controlled Unclassified Information or applied research. Proposers must identify one Topic Area from the 18 listed areas and cannot submit to multiple topic areas. Budget proposals must include all Department of War (DoW) and DARPA funding received by the applicant; there is no specific limit on equipment purchases as long as the total base period budget does not exceed $500,000. The FAQs clarify that previous tenure-track positions do not apply to current eligibility determinations, leaves of absence within the eligibility window must be documented and justified, and subawardees are permitted but must meet the same proposal documentation requirements as the prime organization.

2027 Young Faculty Award (YFA) Research Announcement (RA)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Document Administrative and Technical
Version 1 October 19, 2026
Questions for this RA should be submitted to YFA2027@darpa.mil by the deadline stated in the RA. All FAQs will be updated on a continual basis.
Administrative Questions
1. Eligibility
Q1-1: How were the countries listed in Section IV: Special Considerations chosen?
A1-1: The countries were determined based on the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security regulation, 15 CFR 791.4.
Q1-2: Could you please confirm that faculty who currently are not but will be "in a current tenure track faculty position" by the date of a full proposal are eligible to submit the Executive Summary?
A1-2: As stated in the RA, eligible proposers must be Tenure-Track or Tenured professors (or their equivalents) at the time of Full Proposal submission.
Q1-3: I was brought in at the rank of full professor, but without tenure. Am I eligible for the YFA?
A1-3: Proposers must meet the eligibility requirements of the YFA RA for current positions held. Per the solicitation, only current tenured track faculty position, tenured faculty within 3 years of their tenure date, or an equivalent at a non-profit research institution within 12 years of the receipt of their doctorate are eligible for the YFA program.
Q1-4: If I am an Assistant Professor not in a tenure-track position, am I eligible to submit a proposal?
A1-4: No, proposed Key Personnel (the PI) must be in a current tenured track faculty position, tenured faculty within 3 years of their tenure date, or an equivalent at a non-profit research institution within 12 years of the receipt of their doctorate at the time of submission.
Q1-5: If I was previously in a Tenure-Track or Tenured position, but have changed universities and am currently not in a Tenure-Track or Tenured position, am I still eligible to submit a proposal?
A1-5: Proposers must meet the eligibility requirements of the RA for current positions held.
Previous positions held do not apply.

Q1-6: I work at an Institute at a University. The institute does not offer tenure-track appointments, but the University does. Which clause applies in my case?
A1-6: Your appointment position at your employing organization will determine your eligibility. Please review the eligibility information provided in the RA and discuss your eligibility determination with your Office of Sponsored Projects.
Q1-7: Is a Ph.D. required?
A1-7: Current Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professors, and Tenured faculty within 3 years of their Tenure date are NOT required to have a Ph.D. However, individuals in an equivalent position at a non-profit research institution are required to be within 12 years of the receipt of their Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and/or another Doctorate Degree to be eligible for the YFA program.
Q1-8: If I took a leave of absence (e.g., maternity, sabbatical, etc.) within 3 years of being hired or promoted to a tenure position, should this period be included in the 3-year window?
A1-8: Situations like this are highly case-dependent. If the institution has approved leaves of absence, these dates may be listed on the cover sheet of the submission under “PI’s Approved Leaves of Absence, if any.” DARPA will only accept the official tenure start date according to the university. If the tenure start date and full proposal submission deadline exceeds the 3-year eligibility window, DARPA will expect to see the excess amount justified in the approved leaves of absence section. Failure to provide any/all relevant information relating to the PI’s eligibility on the cover page of the submission may result in the proposal being determined non-conforming and subject to rejection without review.
Q1-9: I was a subcontractor for a DARPA award that was valued at $900,000, but the Government only provided $450,000 in total for the subcontract. Am I eligible to submit a YFA proposal?
A1-9: If you were PI on the subcontract, you should account for the amount of funds allocated to your portion of effort to determine funding eligibility. You must also meet all other eligibility requirements in order to be eligible to submit a YFA proposal.
Q1-10: Does the total from all DoW sources include DoW-related consortiums like the University Consortium for Applied Hypersonics and/or does it include DURIPs (since funds are for equipment and not research)?
A1-10: Funding originating from any DoW and/or DARPA source will count toward the funding limit, regardless of the specific program, solicitation, or funding mechanism under which it was provided.
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 3 of 14
Q1-11: I am considering applying to other Young Investigator programs sponsored by other agencies.
Does that disqualify me from proposing to (or being selected for) the DARPA YFA cooperative agreement?
A1-11: No, provided the total amount of funding received from those programs combined with any other DoW awards received does not exceed the funding limitations noted in the RA at the time of submission. Submission to other programs by DARPA or other agencies is not restricted. Recipients of non-YFA DARPA awards are eligible to propose. Proposers must provide a listing of federal support (past, current, and pending). This list must include the sponsor, amount, and performance dates of all federally funded research efforts. Please note that proposals previously funded by DARPA or other agencies should NOT be submitted to this RA.
Q1-12: Are researchers in small for-profit companies eligible for YFA?
A1-12: If the proposer is employed at a U.S. institution, which includes those in U.S. states and territories, and meets the other eligibility requirements, they are eligible to propose for a YFA 2027 award.
Q1-13: I am a young investigator at a non-profit research institute that does not have Tenure-Track positions. Do I qualify as part of an equivalent non-profit research institution?
A1-13: If the proposer is from a non-profit science and technology research institution a determination of eligibility must be made using the following guidance:
• The appointment must be a continuing appointment (soft-money appointments and/or visiting appointments do not apply and will not be considered).
• If the employing organization DOES NOT offer Tenure-Track appointments, then the PI must be within 12 years of receipt of their Ph.D.
• If the employing organization DOES offer Tenure-Track appointments, then only current Tenure-Track associates and tenured faculty within 3 years of their Tenure date are eligible for the YFA program.
Q1-14: If an individual serves as a Subaward lead/PI (i.e., is not the Prime PI/YFA award recipient), would that participation affect the individual’s eligibility to (1) submit a future YFA as Prime PI (assuming funding thresholds are not exceeded) and/or (2) submit as Prime PI on non-YFA DARPA funding opportunities?
A1-14: (1) Serving as a Subaward lead/PI on a YFA effort would not make an individual ineligible to submit a proposal as a PI on a future YFA under the current eligibility requirements.
Assuming the individual met the eligibility requirements, the individual would be eligible to submit a proposal as a YFA PI.
(2) YFA Subaward leads/PIs are not barred from applying to serve as a PI for other DARPA funding opportunities.
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 4 of 14
Q1-15: My advisor is a prior YFA recipient. Am I eligible to apply for a YFA and keep my current advisor?
A1-15: Yes, you may apply as long as you meet the eligibility considerations.
Q1-16: I have a collaborator who is preparing a separate YFA proposal and would like to include me as a subawardee on that submission. Could you please confirm whether participating in one proposal as PI and another as subawardee would comply with the solicitation requirements?
A1-16: Yes, you may apply as long as you meet the eligibility considerations.
Q1-17: Are Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, University Affiliated Research Centers, National Laboratories or other Government entities eligible to apply or team with organizations for support?
A1-17: No, researchers working at Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, University Affiliated Research Centers, National Laboratories or other Government entities are not eligible to serve under this program in any capacity. See Section IV:
Special Considerations.
2. Personnel
Q2-1: The RA solicits single PI proposals only. Am I allowed to include subcontractors, vendors, or other faculty members if they are in a supporting role and not listed as a Co-PI?
A2-1: Yes. The RA strictly solicits single-PI proposals (no Co-PIs allowed); however, you may propose teaming if the nature of the research requires it. Team formation and management are the sole responsibility of the PI.
Q2-2: Must the team members be final when the Executive Summaries are submitted? Would it be possible to add additional team members to my full proposal submission that I did not include in my executive summary?
A2-2: Teams do not need to be final at the time of Executive Summary submission. Proposers are not prohibited from making changes to their staffing plan after the executive summary is submitted. Please ensure your full proposal accurately reflects your total number of personnel and their level of commitment for each position listed, and the specific tasks (as described in the SOW) they will support.
Q2-3: Are subawardees allowed?
A2-3: Subawardees are permitted. If they are post-doctoral researchers, they must be identified as Senior Personnel and are subject to the eligibility requirements in the RA.
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 5 of 14
Q2-4: Can the subawardee be from the same institution as the Prime? Would “subawardee” be the correct designation in that case, or is there another preferred term?
A2-4: Individuals from the same institution as the Prime are not considered subawardees.
Post-doctoral personnel should be identified as Senior Personnel in proposals. Senior Personnel are subject to the citizenship requirements in the RA but are not subject to the funding limitations and tenure requirements of the Key Personnel (i.e., Principal Investigator) noted in the RA.
Q2-5: Can I team with a previous DARPA YFA awardee?
A2-5: Yes, but previous DARPA YFA awardees cannot serve as PIs. They should be listed as Senior Personnel.
Q2-6: Is it allowable for the graduate student associated with the YFA proposal to be associated with faculty at a different institution than the YFA awardee?
A2-6: Yes, as long as any relevant eligibility requirements are met by the graduate student(s).
Q2-7: If I receive a YFA award while a faculty member at University A and then I accept a job offer from University B, can I transfer my YFA cooperative agreement to University B?
A2-7: No, YFA cooperative agreement awards are between DARPA and the institution, not DARPA and the individual and cannot be transferred to another institution.
3. Executive Summary Submission
Q3-1: Is the executive summary optional?
A3-1: As stated in the RA, prior to submitting a full proposal, proposers are required to first submit an executive summary. Executive summary submission is not optional for the
2027 RA.
Q3-2: How do I submit an Executive Summary?
A3-2: Instructions for executive summary submission are contained within the RA itself and in Attachment A. All executive summaries must be submitted through the Broad Agency Announcement Tool (BAAT) via https://baa.darpa.mil/. Each topic area (TA) will have a separate announcement listing in BAAT (e.g., DARPARA2701-01, DARPARA2701-02, etc.).
Q3-3: Can I submit multiple executive summaries?
A3-3: No. Each proposer is limited to one (1) executive summary submission, and each executive summary must specify ONE and only one TA to which it is applicable and identify this TA on the submission’s cover sheet. Executive summaries that do not https://baa.darpa.mil/
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 6 of 14 clearly address one specific TA may be deemed non-conforming and removed from award consideration.
Q3-4: Can multiple executive summary submissions be included in the same .zip file?
A3-4: Multiple executive summary submissions are not allowed. Only one .zip file will be accepted per submission. The elements of a complete submission (Executive Summary) must be provided as a single .zip file containing either one document file, or a single .zip containing multiple separate document files. Document files may be in .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .odx, .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx formats.
Q3-5: How do I confirm if I have an account with BAAT?
A3-5: An account with https://baa.darpa.mil will have an associated email and username. If you have the email address and have forgotten the username, you may click on the "username recovery" link on the bottom right of the https://baa.darpa.mil website. If you do not have a username or associated email, please create a new account.
Q3-6: In order to make a submission via https://baa.darpa.mil, I must complete an online form. This form asks me to request the attention of a specific Program Manager. Can you please clarify this input field? Which Program Manager’s name shall I provide here?
A3-6: Leave this field blank.
Q3-7: In order to make a submission via https://baa.darpa.mil, I must complete an online form. This form requests a “Submission Summary” and requires us to “Provide a summary of the proposed Technical and Management approach.” What should I provide here?
A3-7: Please provide a brief description of the approach or simply write, “See attached submission.” Completing this field is required during the submission process; however, the contents of this field will not be evaluated as part of your submission.
Q3-8: May I add a bibliography to my executive summary submission?
A3-8: No. The Executive Summary submission should follow the template provided in Attachment A to the RA.
Q3-9: Are Tables and Figures expected in the submission, and do they count toward the one-page Executive Summary limit? Are references required, and do they also count toward the one-page Executive summary limit?
A3-9: The Executive Summary submission should follow the template and instructions provided in Attachment A to the RA. Executive Summaries shall not exceed a maximum of 1 page, excluding the Cover Sheet. Items 1 through 4 (to include any figures, tables, and charts) will count toward the page limit. The Executive Summary should not include any references.

DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 7 of 14
Q3-10: How are we to anonymize the Executive Summary? The argument of why the research will be successful often hinges on previous work performed by the PI.
A3-10: Proposers should answer items 1 through 4 without naming the specific personnel or organizations involved. Proposers are expected to exercise common sense to ensure the idea expressed in their submission stands alone. Executive Summaries will undergo a “blind” review and must not include any references.
Q3-11: Who should make a submission – the Organization or the PI?
A3-11: Whether the proposal submission is made by the PI or the Organization is at the discretion of the proposer. However, if selected, final cooperative agreement awards will be executed between DARPA and the submitting organization, not the individual.
4. Full Proposal Submission
Q4-1: Can I submit a full proposal if I did not submit an executive summary?
A4-1: No. Proposers are first required to submit an executive summary by the due date listed in the 2027 RA.
Q4-2: Can I submit a full proposal if my executive summary was not recommended for full proposal submission?
A4-2: Yes, however, a discouraged statement in response to an executive summary should be viewed as a strong indicator that DARPA is not interested in the proposed research.
Q4-3: Can I submit multiple full proposal submissions?
A4-3: No. PIs are limited to submitting only one executive summary and only one full proposal for YFA. Submissions must identify one of the TAs listed in the RA. If a PI submits more than one executive summary or more than one full proposal DARPA will review the first time-stamped submission only and will reject the subsequent submission(s).
Q4-4: Can I make changes to what was submitted in my Executive Summary (e.g., submission title, changes to technical approach and research methods, etc.) in my Full Proposal submission?
A4-4: Yes. Proposers are not prohibited from making changes from their Executive Summary submission.
Q4-5: The RA mentions, “All proprietary subawardee proposal documentation, prepared at the same level of detail as that required of the awardee’s proposal…” Does this mean that a subawardee is required to provide the same proposal elements that are required of the lead organization?
A4-5: Yes.
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 8 of 14
Q4-6: Is a Letter of Support from the University Department Head required for the full proposal submission?
A4-6: An official transmittal letter is required for a full proposal submission. This is typically a brief, signed statement from an official at the submitter's organization (for example, a Director of Research or Sponsored Programs) in support of the research proposed.
Please reach out to your University’s Office of Sponsored Research for further information and guidance.
Q4-7: Is there a specific file naming convention required for the full proposal documents that must be submitted via Grants.gov?
A4-7: There is no file naming convention requirement for this solicitation. Requirements for Full Proposal submission are provided in Section III: Submission Information.
5. Budget & Cost Proposal
Q5-1: Is a Cost Proposal required as a part of the Full Proposal submission?
A5-1: Please see Section III: Submission Information of the RA. Full Proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov. Budget Justification should be provided as Section L of the SF 424 Research & Related Budget form provided via Grants.gov.
Q5-2: Can you please clarify the total maximum funding possible per award?
A5-2: The maximum combined award amount the proposer’s prime organization may receive for the Base period (maximum award amount of $500,000), the Director’s Fellowship option (maximum award amount of $500,000), and a U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option (maximum award amount of $225,000) would be up to $1,225,000 in sum.
Q5-3: Does the limit of $500,000 for the Base period award include indirect costs?
A5-3: Yes.
Q5-4: If a postdoc (identified as Senior Personnel) is included in my proposal (and budget) but I am unable to hire for that position, would it be possible to reallocate funds to a graduate student at a later date if I am selected for an award?
A5-4: Yes, it is possible. You will need to notify the contracting officer to initiate the approval process. DARPA requires an SF424 and a security assessment for any additional Senior Personnel.
Q5-5: Should we include a budget for equipment, and is there a funding limitation on equipment purchases?
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 9 of 14
A5-5: If you will need to purchase equipment to perform your research, then it should be included in your budget via a priced Bill-of-Materials. (All equipment priced at over $5,000 requires supporting documentation, such as a vendor quote.) There is no specific limit for equipment purchases; however, your total budget for the 24-month base period cannot exceed $500,000.
Q5-6: Can I propose travel costs for non-DoW events and activities?
A5-6: Proposing travel costs for non-DoW sponsored events and activities is strongly discouraged. As part of the YFA program, a number of visits/exercises at a variety of DoW sites and facilities may be scheduled. It is expected that YFA recipients will participate in a subset of the DoW visits/exercises made available to them. All requests for travel funding (for both the Principal Investigator (PI) and research staff) will be reviewed by the DARPA Program Manager as well as the Agreements Officer for those proposals selected for award. Any requests for travel funding that are deemed excessive will likely be reduced during negotiations, if selected.
Q5-7: Can I propose costs to support publication-related expenses?
A5-7: The inclusion of publication costs is strongly discouraged. Costs proposed should focus on meeting program research goals and objectives. Any requests for publication-related expenses that are deemed excessive will likely be reduced during negotiations, if selected.
Q5-8: The RA mentions an Interdivisional Work Transfer Agreement. Is there an available example of this document?
A5-8: There is no formal Government template for these agreements as they are internal to proposer organizations. They are only applicable if required by your organization.
Q5-9: What is the effort requirement for the PI? We plan on having other FTEs working on this project, so we want to budget appropriately for the PI.
A5-9: DARPA cannot determine this for you. The PI’s level of effort should be substantial enough to ensure that the proposed research can be completed during the cooperative agreement period.
Q5-10: Is there a DARPA list of labor categories and associated qualifications I can use in my cost proposal?
A5-10: There is no such list maintained by DARPA. You may use the categories established by your institution.
6. U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 10 of 14
Q6-1: What is the maximum time duration of the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option?
A6-1: As stated in the RA, the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option Period of Performance (PoP) is not to exceed 12 months and must run concurrently with the 24-month base period.
Q6-2: Can I use the 24-month base period funding to support more than one U.S. Citizen Graduate Student?
A6-2: Only one U.S. citizen graduate student may be supported under the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option award during the 24-month base period. However, you may include additional graduate students as Team Members and fund them using base period funding.
Q6-3: The guidelines state that the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option must include a Statement of Work (SOW) and associated cost proposal. Does this require a separate submission of a Statement of Work, specifically for this option? Where would this need to be submitted?
A6-3: The SOW for this option does not need to be submitted as a separate file. It may be incorporated into the main SOW as a clearly identified, stand-alone option task. The cost proposal for the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option should be included as a distinct, clearly labeled section within the overall cost proposal, following the same cost-proposal format and templates used for the base and additional option period.
Q6-4: Does the U.S. citizen graduate student need to be identified at the time of proposal submission?
A6-4: No, however, interested proposers should include the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option in their proposal with a SOW and associated cost proposal (covering costs such as salary/stipend, fringe, tuition and fees, indirect costs, and travel.) DARPA understands that it may take time to identify an eligible graduate student. Proposers may structure the option in a manner appropriate to their project and institutional requirements, provided that the proposed Period of Performance (PoP) remains within the 24-month base period of the initial award. As stated in the RA, “If proposing the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option, an eligible student must be identified once they are known, and the Institution must certify their citizenship using Attachment F before the option can be exercised. If that student departs the institution prior to completion of the option, the institution may replace them with another eligible student by submitting a new Attachment F and certifying their citizenship prior to them commencing work.”
Q6-5: Is it recommended for proposers to include the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option?
A6-5: Yes. To encourage the participation of U.S. citizens on YFA, all proposers are encouraged to include the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student option in their proposals. If a proposer does not include the U.S. Citizen Graduate Student Option in the proposal, they may not add the option later should the base proposal be selected for funding.
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 11 of 14
7. Director’s Fellowship Option
Q7-1: Is it recommended for proposers to include a budget for the Director’s Fellowship option period?
A7-1: Yes. If a proposer does not include a Director’s Fellowship Option in the proposal, they may not add the option later should the base proposal be selected for funding. The proposer should include cost information as defined by the RA, for both the base and Director’s Fellowship Option. Note that there is a maximum budget of $500,000 for the Director’s Fellowship Option.
8. Program Description/Scope
Q8-1: I do not understand whether the focus of this program is on basic/fundamental research or applied research. Could you please clarify this?
A8-1: Fundamental research only. See Section IV: Special Considerations, “DARPA will not select proposals for negotiation of an award if the proposal is deemed to be Applied Research, or otherwise requires Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) restrictions.”
Q8-2: I would like to request a meeting with a specific DARPA YFA staff and/or topic POC. Is this possible?
A8-2: No. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of responses to this RA, DARPA is unable to accommodate such meetings. However, if you have specific technical or administrative questions that may be shared with the general public, you may send them to YFA2027@darpa.mil.
Q8-3: Under what topic area (TA) is my research most applicable?
A8-3: It is up to the submitting PI to choose the most appropriate TA for their proposed research.
Q8-4: My idea fits into multiple topic areas. May I submit to multiple topic areas and/or submit multiple applications?
A8-4: No. Each submission (executive summary or full proposal) must specify ONE and only one TA to which it is applicable and identify this TA on the submission’s cover sheet.
Executive summaries and full proposals that do not clearly address one specific TA may be deemed non-conforming and removed from consideration.
Q8-5: My research topic does not fall under any of the Topic Areas (TAs). Does DARPA encourage proposals outside of these TAs?
DARPARA2701 Administrative and Technical FAQs Page 12 of 14
A8-5: No. If you feel that your research is not directly related to one of the topic areas, you may look into submitting a proposal to another active DARPA solicitation, including the DARPA Office-wide Broad Agency Announcements (https://www.darpa.mil/research/opportunities/baa). It is important to note that any such submission cannot be referred to as a "YFA" proposal. Prior to any submission, you should carefully review the technical area description to ensure the proposed concept is in line with that solicitation and/or office’s technology investment portfolio.
Q8-6: If proposers intend to include human or animal use in their research study do they need to include a document detailing human or animal use?
A8-6: Proposers that anticipate involving Human Subjects Research (HSR) or Animal Use in the proposed research must comply with the approval procedures detailed at Human Subjects and Animal Use, to include providing the information specified therein as required for proposal submission. Proposals should briefly describe plans for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and/or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) review and approval. A description of these plans should be included in the proposal.
Q8-7: Are preliminary results required, allowed but not required, or not allowed in this solicitation?
A8-7: Preliminary results are allowed but not required.
Q8-8: Will the YFA solicitation go out every year, and will the topic areas vary over the years?
A8-8: We are unable to make good-faith predictions about future solicitations. While this program has received positive feedback in the past, the future of the program depends on the availability of funding. The topic areas for YFA solicitations tend to vary but are designed to meet the needs of DARPA Program Managers at the time that the solicitation is issued.
Q8-9: My proposed idea is [insert research idea]. Is this of interest? Can I get confirmation that my research fits within the scope of one of the TAs in the RA?
A8-9: Proposers are required to submit an executive summary in advance of a full proposal to determine DARPA’s interest and minimize the effort and expense of preparing an out-of-scope proposal. If proposers have technical questions about a TA that can be shared with the general public via the FAQ document, they can submit those questions to the YFA2027@darpa.mil inbox for response by the Question Submittal deadline stated in the RA.
Technical Questions
Technical questions for Topic Areas (TAs) should be submitted to YFA2027@darpa.mil by the deadline stated in the RA.
