About this file

This document is a detailed reproductive workflow for the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS). It outlines the process for a veteran to receive pregnancy counseling, access abortion services, and obtain follow-up care through the VA.

The workflow covers options for veterans who are eligible for VA services, as well as community resources for those who are not. It provides specifics on the medication abortion process, including required documentation, prescriptions, and follow-up visits. For surgical abortions, it details the referral process to the GYN clinic and the timeframe for scheduling the procedure. The document also addresses mental health considerations, allowing for a consultation and shared decision-making between the veteran and mental health provider. Overall, the workflow aims to ensure veterans receive comprehensive, non-directive counseling and timely access to reproductive health services through the VA.
