About this file
This document is a Calibration Standards Specification (CSS) for a Vacuum Sensor Calibrator (VSC) intended for use by Navy personnel in shore-based laboratories. The specification details comprehensive technical requirements for a precision instrument designed to calibrate vacuum sensor arrays by comparing their output to a vacuum standard. Key performance specifications include:
The VSC must provide vacuum measurements from 10-4 to 1,000 Torr with a minimum resolution of 10-5 Torr and uncertainty of ±0.12%, and include multiple port configurations for various fitting types (NW16, NW25, 1/2 inch Rohr, 1/8 inch NPT, 1/4 inch MFL). The equipment must have a pumping capacity of at least 10 liters/minute, operate from a 120V single-phase power source, and include specific accessories such as vacuum hoses, centering rings, clamps, and adapters. Additional requirements cover maintainability (12-month calibration interval, 10,000-hour reliability), safety standards, environmental performance, and detailed design specifications for enclosure, electrical systems, and component construction.
