About this file
This document is a Contract Specifications Table for a forestry-related contract, specifically focused on harvest unit boundary marking, GPS data collection, monthly reporting, and forest cruise activities. The contract involves detailed specifications for marking forest harvest unit boundaries using orange paint stripes, GPS tracking, and flagging, with precise requirements for marking trees, boundaries, skip areas, gaps, and prescription breaks. Tasks include collecting GPS points with ≥50 ft accuracy, marking boundaries every 100 ft, monumenting cruise plots, and submitting monthly reports detailing labor hours, crew size, paint and flagging usage, and other project metrics.
The contract appears to be a detailed forestry management project involving precise boundary marking, data collection, and forest inventory procedures. While specific pricing terms are not included, the document outlines comprehensive technical specifications for field work, including requirements for GPS data formatting (NAD 1983 Oregon Statewide Lambert), cruise plot documentation, and reporting protocols. The specifications suggest a structured approach to forest management that emphasizes accurate mapping, boundary identification, and systematic data collection to support forestry operations.

Contract Specifications Table
Task Deliverable Specifications
Task 1
Mark Harvest Unit Boundaries
3 orange stripes ≥2 in wide and ≥ 12 inches long. 2 stripes facing the direction of the boundary on either side of bole and one stripe facing into the unit. Every 100 ft replace stripe facing into unit with unit number. From one boundary tree the next and last boundary trees should be visible. Corners will have the 2 stripes in line with the boundary on either side with a horizontal stripe connecting and facing into the unit. Unit number will also be applied. Boundary marking should be above Breast Height. Moss should be removed before applying paint. One butt mark should be applied on the downhill side of the tree. Butt mark should be teardrop shaped. Circular mark at the forest floor and a stripe continuing up the bole at least 8 in long. Pink harvest unit boundary flagging will be used to supplement boundary paint. (Every 50 ft). Unit boundaries will be laid out as close as practicable to unit map unless safety is compromised, stand breaks are off, or there are unforeseen resources encountered. (See Figure 1 through 6)
Designate beginning and end points of ELZs
If directed, Equipment Limitations Zones will be marked. The beginning and end point will be marked with 2 ribbons of Blue Flagging and Blue Paint on a tree. A Blue E will be painted at Breast Height and a blue butt mark on the downhill side of the tree.
Designate Skip Areas
Skip Areas will be marked with Orange horizontal stripe ≥2 in wide with a "S" painted beneath the horizontal line. The Horizontal line shall cover half the circumference of the bole facing into the unit.
Designate Gaps
Gaps will vary depending on prescription. Center of gaps will be marked with either white or yellow paint depending on if the center tree will be cut or retained. In some cases gaps may be marked by groups of individual trees marked for removal.
Designate Prescription Breaks Prescription breaks will be marked with Lime Glo Flagging and tags labeled with Rx details facing into respective Rx areas
Post Boundary Tags
Boundary tags will only be placed where unit intersects system roads. Two tags will be stacked horizontally with 2 in gap between them. They will face into the unit, but also be visible from the road.
Contract Specifications Table (continued) Task Deliverable Specifications
Task 2
Harvest Boundary GPS points and tracks collected
GPS points should be collected using a GPS unit with ≥ ft 50 ft accuracy. Boundary points should be taken every 100 ft and whenever there is a direction change in boundary. A GPS point should be taken every 50 ft along riparian areas. Tracks may be collected but are optional. Harvest Boundary Points do not need to be labeled. All GPS points should be in the NAD 1983 Oregon Statewide Lambert (Intl Feet).
Prescription elements GPS points collected
Prescription breaks, ELZs, Gaps, and Skips should follow same specifications as harvest boundary points except the should be labeled Rx, E,G, and S respectively.
GPS Data delivered to contract administrator GPS Point sent via email or uploaded to box folder in gpx or shp file format.
Task 3 Report monthly figures
Monthly reports should include of labor hours, crew size, feet of harvest unit boundary layout completed, number of 12 oz aerosol cans of paint used, and how many rolls of flagging used. Use provided excel template or text, email, or call the contract administrator.
Reports should be submitted 5 days after the end of reporting month.
Task 4
Cruise Plan and Design Cruise plan and design should include methods and logic.
Cruise executed and plots monumentation
Plots should be monumented with a steak at plot center with orange glo flagging. Date plot number and cruiser initials should be marked on flagging with grease pencil.
Cruise data, reports, statistics Reports should include Total volume in MBF, CCF, and Tons Volume by species, strata, unit% error, statistics, Plot data
GPS location of cruise plots Cruise plots should be labeled with plot #. All GPS points should be in the NAD 1983 Oregon Statewide Lambert (Intl Feet).
