Collar System:
The Naiad 10M-WAC-M-OB utilizes a foam fender collar system to provide stability and to cushion the hull from low-speed impacts. Foam is located and supported by a large aluminum keyway that provides support for foam and the inwale. The foam collar on the Naiad 10M-WAC-M-OB helps to create the stability
INL: Repowering Defender Class Boats Page 17 of 58 of a much wider hull, without the weight of the accompanying structure. The EVA closed cell foam used to construct the collar absorbs the force of low speed impacts, and helps to protect the hull from the associated shock loading. To protect the relatively soft EVA foam from puncture and abrasion, the collar is sprayed with Rhino Linings Extreme covering. Rhino Extreme is flexible enough to allow the foam to absorb the impacts, yet durable enough to protect the foam from the abrasion associated with the rough marine environment.
TESTING/ACCEPTANCE: The engines will not be considered for final acceptance until after installation has demonstrated operational performance without corrective action required. (NOTE: This is based on the offeror conducting the installation of the engines etc.)
4.2 COLLAR SYSTEMS:
For the fifteen (15) SAFE™ (Secured Around Flotation Equipped) Defender Class boats:
1. Manufactured from SAFE™ (Secured Around Flotation Equipped)
2. 2.6 meter
3. Manufactured from closed cell polyethylene foam with an ultraviolet (UV) stable polyurethane coating. The collar is bolted directly to the outside of the hull and cannot lose buoyancy or absorb water.
4. The collar core is constructed of solid, closed-cell, polyethylene foam.
5. The coating is exceptionally tough, scuff-resistant, UV stable polyurethane.
6. If damage to the collar occurs, it is easily repaired at the unit level.
7. The collar is capable of absorbing major impact and returning to its original shape.
8. Damaged sections can be easily repaired or replaced as necessary.
9. The water-contacting surface of the collar is protected by an aluminum flange, which protects it from damage.
For the four (4) Naiad 10M-WAC-M-OB boats:
1. Manufactured from NAIAD company
2. Utilizes a foam fender collar system to provide stability and to cushion the hull from low-speed impacts.
3. Consistent with all Naiad designs the fender system also reduces spray.
4. Using the EVA closed cell foam.
5. Sprayed with Rhino Linings Extreme covering.
4.3 NAVIGATION & COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS:
1. Furuno DFF1 Depth Finder/Sonar
2. Furuno DRS4D NavNet 3D 24" 4kw Digital Radome

3. Furuno FM4800 Marine VHF Radiotelephone with Class D DSC, GPS Receiver, AIS Receiver, and Simplified Loud Hailer
4. Furuno GP330B NMEA2000 NavNet GPS Receiver with minimum 4” Stainless Steel Mount
5. Furuno FA50 Black Box Class B AIS Transponder with Stainless Steel Mount
6. VHF Antenna compatible with Furuno FM4800 RT, including Stainless Steel
Antenna Mount
7. Ethernet Cabling for all components
8. On-site Installation and System Set Up for All Components
9. On-site System Training for All Boat Crew, Including Underway (with fuel funded by vendor)
10. Accompanying parts:
Each Navigation and Communication package should come with appropriate spare and maintenance parts, also mounting components for installations
11. Each system (each vessel, total of 19) will require what is called a NMEA 2000 Starter Kit for the GP330B GPS Antenna to be able to connect and work with a Furuno Display.
12. The requested items will only connect to Furuno MFD8, MFD12 and MFDBB and TZT9, TZT14, TZTL12F and TZTL15F. They will NOT connect to NAVNET
(this is the one in the requirement that will not work), NAVNETBB or NAVNET VX2 or VX2 BB. The requirement should be for a navigation system integrated with GPS and radar. The individual components should connect, be compatible and make up a fully integrated navigation suite. Navigation systems including the Furuno evolve and are upgraded, leading to slight compatibility issues. We suggest giving the vendor the latitude to identify the individual components that meet the performance specifications.
13. For all ethernet cabling required, the Contractor will be required to measure the cable run distance. This said, standard factory cable lengths should suffice. A safe fallback would be to indicate the longest option of standard premade cables. Excess can be concealed below the console.
14. The Contractor shall provide the following: Furuno Manufactured RDR SNSR 4KW DOME 15M CBL. This kit contains the Furuno NavNet TZTBB, Hattel and Series X 24" Standard Brightness Multi-Touch Display-HD 24T21 MMD-MA1- FOGP-, and a Gyration Air Mouse Go Plus with Compact Keyboard TZTBB Standard Features. Appropriate spare and maintenance parts for installations
(NOTE: if any of the above components are discontinued, substitute the current Furuno replacement model)
INL: Repowering Defender Class Boats Page 19 of 58
Q&A NAVIGATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:
Can you please address the following issues?
1. Are you able to amend the requirement to change out Line 2, for one of the compatible options highlighted below?
a. The requested items will only connect to Furuno MFD8, MFD12 and MFDBB and TZT9, TZT14, TZTL12F and TZTL15F.
b. They will NOT connect to NAVNET (this is the one in the requirement that will not work), NAVNETBB or NAVNET VX2 or VX2 BB
2. Each system (each vessel, total of 19) will require what is called a NMEA 2000 Starter Kit for the GP330B GPS Antenna to be able to connect and work with a Furuno Display.
a. This is correct and should be included.
3. To provide all the ethernet cabling required, we need to know some of the cable lengths;
distance between the Display, BBDS1, FA50
a. This will require a technician to measure the cable run distance. A review of the manuals did not reveal the existing cable length nor the measurements between the components. This said, standard factory cable lengths should suffice. A safe fallback would be to indicate the longest option of standard premade cables.
Excess can be concealed below the console.
5. COMPLIANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS:
The offerors shall prepare and submit with their offer, for the proposed products, a detailed matrix indicating that the specifications of the products offered are in compliance with the brand-name specifications set forth in Paragraph 4 Description/Specifications of requested equipment & parts of this solicitation. Any deviations to the required minimum specifications shall be clearly stated in the remarks column.
As supplement to the specification data of the equipment and parts, Offerors shall also provide with their offer Product literature and/or catalog; from the manufacturer or a third party (i.e., clearly identifying the source)
Failure to provide this information will result in a ‘non- responsive’ offer and removal from award consideration.
