1 INTRODUCTION

The US Air Force Mission Planning Systems (MPS) is a collaborative Department of War (DoW) program that leverages technical solutions and practices for all DoW aerial platforms.

MPS enables mission planners to create flight plans based on multiple inputs including threats, targets, terrain, weather, aircraft performance capability, configuration, and other factors. The planner must have the ability to plan cargo, passenger, and/or fuel delivery, calculate fuel requirements, and assess the route based on known threat location(s) and type(s). Mission planners must optimize & de-conflict flight routes with other aircraft; review, print & brief the plan; download pertinent flight information to on-board aircraft avionics; and conduct dynamic/in-flight re-planning, as applicable, to successfully complete the directed mission.
