About this file
This is an information sheet describing the Picatinny Common Lethality Integration Kit (CLIK) Design Standard, a technical specification for modular lethal and protective payloads on unmanned platforms.
The Picatinny CLIK Design Standard establishes requirements for form factor, design, interfaces, messaging, and safety-critical functions to enable interoperable modular payloads on existing and developmental Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) platforms. The standard features a common scalable interface utilizing MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny Rail) mechanical mounting with a minimum 5-inch rail and 5-inch center-to-center distance between parallel rails. The electrical interface employs an 801 Series MIL-STD connector with 19 conductors (9-19 arrangement) supporting 28±5% VDC at 10A maximum current, with shell style options including in-line, square flange, and jam nut configurations. Signal interfaces include RS-232 serial, 10/100 Ethernet, discrete safety interlocks, loopback payload detection, and UDP protocol. The payload design must withstand 5G acceleration in all directions and support toolless installation. Data communication utilizes standardized messaging based on MIL-STD-6090 with potential protocol buffers implementation. The design incorporates the existing small Universal Platform Interface (sUPI) for low Size, Weight, Power applications with regulated or unregulated power options. Reference documents include MIL-STD-1913, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-STD-464D, MIL-STD-1472H, MIL-STD-882E, and MOD Payload Standard Revision 6.1. Technical inquiries should be directed to DEVCOM Armaments Center (Daniel DiMartino) and programmatic inquiries to PEO Armaments and Ammunition, PM Close Combat Systems (Anand Bahadur).

Information Sheet Picatinny Common Lethality Integration Kit (CLIK) Design Standard
• The Picatinny CLIK Design Standard contains requirements for the form factor, design, interfaces, messages, and safety critical functions for interoperable modular lethal and protective payloads on unmanned platforms.
• Picatinny CLIK is intended for immediate integration with existing and developmental Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) platforms and payloads.
• Key attributes:
• A common scalable interface enables quick mounting of modular lethal and protective payloads to maximize compatibility across unmanned platforms.
• Electrical interface will utilize a MIL-STD connector utilizing 19 conductors and will define power, ethernet, serial communication, and dedicated safety signals.
• Data communication utilizes a standardized message set based on a published open standard (MIL-STD-6090) to ensure interoperability.
• The use of a standard schema such as protocol buffers may be leveraged to expedite integration while reducing integrator burden.

MIL-STD-464D Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirements for Systems
MIL-STD-1472H Human Engineering MIL-STD-882E Systems Safety MOD Payload A Modular Payload Design Standard Revision 6.1
• Picatinny CLIK incorporates the existing small Universal Platform Interface (sUPI) for platform-specific low Size, Weight, Power (SWAP) use case. sUPI provides regulated or unregulated power options, a digital communication bus (compatible with Picatinny CLIK standardized messaging), discrete signals, and payload detection. Technical information available through Government Points of Contact.
• Design, development and evolution of Picatinny CLIK Design Standard should be expected to continue.
