About this file
This Change Order Notice is issued by the Illinois Chief Procurement Office for General Services to modify contract P-102244, which was executed on October 7, 2026, for the annual purchase of wood sign posts used by the Department of Transportation (DOT). The contract, referenced as B-54507, covers wood posts with MCA Preservative Treatment that are utilized by district sign shops for installing new traffic signs and replacing or repairing existing signs along state-maintained roadways. The change order notice is being posted on the Bulletin/BidBuy for the required 14-day period in accordance with procurement regulations mandating public posting of change orders exceeding $25,000 or extending completion schedules by 180 days or more.
The vendor has requested a price adjustment due to increased pricing for Southern Yellow Pine with MCA Preservative Treatment materials. The change order is deemed necessary to maintain continuity of supply and prevent disruptions to sign installation and maintenance operations, as inadequate wood post inventory could compromise the timely completion of necessary sign installations and repairs, potentially affecting roadway safety and traffic control. The procurement supports ongoing district operations and roadway maintenance responsibilities essential to protecting public safety on state-maintained roadways. This change order is subject to the Small Business Set-Aside (SBSA) as indicated in the contract title.

| thedetails: This contract was executed on October 7, 2026 (P-102244). The vendor notified us that increased pricing for Southern Yellow Pine with MCA Preservative Treatment would necessitate a request for a price adjustment. This procurement supports the annual purchase of wood sign posts used by district sign shops to install new traffic signs and replace or repair existing signs along state-maintained roadways. These posts are essential materials for maintaining the integrity, visibility, and effectiveness of roadway traffic control signage. |
The timely procurement of these materials is critical to ensuring that district sign shops can respond to damaged or deteriorated sign posts, replace missing or compromised signs, and install new traffic signs as needed. Without an adequate supply of wood posts, the districts may be unable to complete necessary sign installations and repairs in a timely manner. Such delays could result in missing, damaged, or improperly supported traffic signs, potentially affecting motorists' ability to recognize roadway regulations, warnings, and guidance. This could compromise roadway safety, disrupt traffic control, and increase the risk of accidents or other hazardous conditions for the traveling public.
Given the essential role these materials play in maintaining safe roadway conditions, addressing the vendor's requested price increase is important to ensuring continuity of supply and minimizing potential disruptions to sign installation and maintenance operations. Maintaining access to these materials is necessary to support district operations, fulfill ongoing roadway maintenance responsibilities, and protect the safety of the motoring public.
