About this file

This is a Specification for Dockside Repairs for the USCGC HUDSON (WLIC 801) in Fiscal Year 2026, developed by the United States Coast Guard. The specification encompasses five work items detailing maintenance and repair requirements for various vessel systems and equipment.

Work Item 7 requires inspection and testing of designated hull fittings (twenty-two 1-1/4" pad eyes located at various main deck frames) through visual inspection, nondestructive examination (NDE) methods including radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, or eddy current testing, and measurement of pad-eye diameters, with an alternative pull-test option. Work Item 8 specifies inspection and service of six Utility Air Winch Model HU-40 Series units, including operate and inspect tasks, nondestructive examination and preservation of winch foundations with black finish coat, renewal of wire rope assemblies (5/8 inch nominal diameter, 6x37 XXIPS IWRC RRL, 150 feet per assembly), grooming and lubrication, final operational testing, and label plate fabrication. Work Item 9 addresses the Jered LLC Air Driven Warping Capstan Model X-1503 on the fantail, requiring operate and inspect, disassemble and inspect tasks for the capstan head shaft assembly and air motor assembly, pneumatic brake inspection, control valve service, gear reducer service and inspection, foundation preservation and NDE, renewal of all foundation and soft patch gaskets, renewal of two pneumatic hose assemblies, grooming and lubrication, operational and weight testing, and label plate installation. Work Item 10 involves inspection and service of four HU40 Series spud air winches, including operate and inspect, foundation preservation and NDE with black finish coat, wire rope assembly renewal (5/8-inch 6x37 EIPS-IWRC RRL, 130 feet per assembly), grooming and lubrication, and operational testing with ten complete raise-and-lower cycles. Work Item 11 requires inspection and service of one boat davit assembly, including operate and inspect, disassemble and inspect, winch service and inspection, wire rope assembly renewal, pedestal NDE, davit preservation, renewal of all grease fittings and pins with sheave bushings, grooming and lubrication, weight testing at rated load (1,320 pounds), dynamic load (1,520 pounds), and static load (1,650 pounds) per Coast Guard Drawing specifications, and label plate installation. All work must comply with Surface Forces Logistics Center Standard Specifications and include submission of Contractor Fitness Reports (CFR) documenting inspections, recommendations for additional repairs, and completed maintenance tasks.
