CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1. Tell us about your previous work in the field of Catholic Religious Education and/or other education fields. What is the largest program (format/number of people/classes/programs involved) you have ever worked with? Directed?

2. Are you comfortable in vetting educational material to ensure that it complies with the basis of the Catholic faith? What would you do if your Religious Education material did not arrive on time for your class?

3. How capable do you feel in directing the Catholic Religious Education program of the parish?

What kinds of support do you expect from your supervising chaplain? From the rest of the chapel staff?

4. How would you handle conflict with your supervising chaplain or volunteers?

5. How do you plan and organize for programs, publicity and administration? What office tools (computers, e-mail, word processing programs, etc.) are you experienced with for completing administrative, organizational, planning, and publicity tasks?

6. How would you design and lead a “decentralized” religious education program based primarily on small groups?

7. Tell us about your experience in volunteer enlistment. How would you develop your volunteers to meet the needs of a large Catholic Religious Education program? How would you care for the needs (both personal and ministry related) of volunteers?

8. Do you have anything in your background that will be found in a background investigation that would disqualify you from working with children?

9. How would you handle an unruly child in the classroom? What would you do if someone reported child abuse or maltreatment? What precautions will you take to ensure there is no child abuse or maltreatment?

10. Can you work in a pluralistic environment?
