About this file
This document is a Section C Description/Specifications/Statement of Work for a roof replacement project for the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest located in Carson City, Nevada. The project involves replacing asphalt roof shingles, underlayment, flashing, and necessary sheathing on a specified portion of the district office roof. Key specifications include using architectural grade asphalt shingles matching the existing "Brownwood" color, installing a manufacturer's 30-year warranty, and performing comprehensive roof restoration including removing existing roofing materials, repairing up to six 4'x8' sheathing sheets, installing ice and water shield, and ensuring proper flashing and underlayment.
The project is scheduled to start in October 2025 with a 30 calendar day completion timeline. The contractor must follow detailed installation requirements, including specific underlayment procedures, metal flashing techniques, and shingle installation methods. Additional requirements include maintaining a continuous ridge vent, preserving existing gutters and downspouts, and providing a two-year workmanship warranty. The roof is currently not showing signs of leaking, but some shingles were recently blown away in a wind storm. The contractor must coordinate with the Contracting Officer, manage on-site conditions including an occupied office during construction, and ensure all work meets the specified technical standards and manufacturer recommendations.

6. Owner shall promptly notify Roofing Installer of observed, known, or suspected leaks, defects, or deterioration and shall afford reasonable opportunity for Roofing Installer to inspect work and to examine evidence of such leaks, defects, or deterioration.
7. This Warranty is recognized to be the only warranty of Roofing Installer on said work and shall not operate to restrict or cut off Owner from other remedies and resources lawfully available to Owner in cases of roofing failure. Specifically, this Warranty shall not operate to relieve Roofing Installer of responsibility for performance of original work according to requirements of the Contract Documents, regardless of whether Contract was a contract directly with Owner or a subcontract with Owner's General Contractor.
