About this file

This document is a technical specification sheet for the Carrier i-Vu Express v9.0 building automation system, relevant to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Request for Information regarding installation of customer interface equipment on an existing Carrier HVAC control system at the Dubuque Maintenance Garage. The i-Vu Express is a plug-and-play building automation solution designed for small to medium-sized buildings that automatically discovers up to 750 connected i-Vu controllers and provides web-based access to manage Carrier HVAC systems. Key features include built-in scheduling, trending, and alarming tools; intuitive floorplans, dashboards, and reports; integration of third-party equipment such as lighting and meters; and automatic software updates delivered over the internet. The system supports multiple client platforms including smartphones and tablets running Android or iOS, computers running Windows or Mac OS X with compatible web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari), and Surface devices. The i-Vu Express server operates within a temperature range of 32°F to 104°F, measures 4.52 inches deep by 4.37 inches wide by 1.9 inches high, weighs 2.4 pounds, and features three USB Type A ports for network connections and an integrated Intel 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port.

The i-Vu Express server operates on a Linux-based Balena OS and connects to balenaCloud to receive automatic software updates, which users can apply through the i-Vu Management Tool. The device complies with applicable safety standards (IEC, UL, EN, CAN/CSA), environmental regulations (RoHS 2011/65/EU, WEEE 2002/96/EC, China RoHS), and electromagnetic compatibility requirements (FCC CFR Title 47). New features in v9.0 include support for multiple simultaneous downloads for faster sub-networks, Java 17 compatibility, an enhanced Alarm Summary with improved filtering and sorting capabilities, and a preconfigured Security Review report. Storage conditions require temperatures between -4°F and 104°F with humidity levels between 5% and 90% relative humidity.
