About this file
These Project Specifications document the 2025 Joint Sealing Improvements project for the City of Royal Oak, Michigan, under Contract CAP2525. The project scope involves preparing, cleaning, and resealing longitudinal and transverse joints and cracks in asphalt and concrete pavement across local and major roads within the city limits. The work will be performed in accordance with City of Royal Oak and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) standard specifications, with four primary work items: overband crack sealing on local and major asphalt roads, and preparing, routing, cleaning, and sealing cracks on concrete local roads.
Payment for the project will be calculated by lane mile for asphalt road work (one lane mile defined as a 1-mile long, 12-foot wide pavement section) and by linear foot for concrete road joint sealing. The project specifications require contractors to perform work at air temperatures between 45°F and 85°F, use compressed air and tools to clean cracks, remove debris, and follow specific material and application guidelines. Bidders must submit required information as specified in the document, with the engineer retaining discretion to direct additional joint sealing as needed for street maintenance within city limits.
