About this file

This file is a Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Standards document that establishes technical requirements for CAD deliverables on VA project #503-26-105. The A/E contractor must provide all CADD data in Autodesk REVIT 2025 format, ensuring full compatibility with the VA Medical Center's system without requiring translation or preprocessing. Deliverables must be provided on CD media organized according to specified directory structures and file naming conventions. All 3-dimensional intelligent object CADD files must be generated for architectural, electrical, mechanical-HVAC, plumbing, and structural disciplines, with drawings registered at coordinate origin 0,0,0 or 0,0 as applicable.

The standards mandate use of REVIT 2025 default fonts with specific text sizes for notes (1/8"), subtitles (1/4"), and main titles (1/2"). Symbology must conform to Department of Veterans Affairs standards, with any project-specific symbols delivered on a separate CD. Layering conventions must follow American Institute of Architects guidelines. File naming structure requires format BN-f#-1-0000-Drawing Title.rvt (building number-floor number-drawing sequence-year-title), using only alphanumeric characters without special characters. All architectural entities including doors, windows, and reflected ceiling plans must use REVIT 2025 default symbology with complete attributes. Each space must include a BLOCK attribute containing room number and room name. Hardcopy deliverables include CADD data file listings, full-size check plots with complete identification and reference files, and plots of project-specific symbology. All CADD files created become the property of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Graphic Format

All CADD data shall be supplied in the 2025 version of Autodesk Inc., REVIT. The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that all files are compatible* with the VAMC's CADD system, REVIT 2025.

*Note: Compatible means that data can be accessed directly by the target system without translation or preprocessing of data files. It is the responsibility of the A/E to ensure this level of compatibility.

B.

Delivery Media

All CADD data shall be delivered on CD. The CADD data files shall be copies to the media. All data files shall be organized using the directory structure (path) as outlined in the CADD Standards, Naming Conventions section of this document. All files shall be free of corrupted or unusable data.

C.

CADD Standards

1. 3-dimensional intelligent object CADD drawing files shall be required for all significant design objects which are shown for the following discipline types: Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical-HVAC, Plumbing, and Structural. All drawings should be registered with the lower left limits set at 0,0,0 x-y-z; or 0,0 x-y coordinate vectors; as applicable.

2.

Lettering:

· Only REVIT Version 2025 default font styles shall be accepted.

· The text sizes to be used are as follows:

General Notes & Associated Text at 1/8"

Drawing Subtitles at 1/4"

Drawing Main Titles at 1/2"

3.

Symbology (graphic libraries/standard details/border and drawing sheets) used by the A/E shall be those used by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The A/E shall provide VA with any special symbology developed for this project on separate delivery cd.

4.

Layering/Level Standards shall follow the American Institute of Architects’ “CADD Layering Guidelines”.

5.

All files created for use by the Department of Veterans Affairs will conform to the following directory path and file naming conventions:

Directory Path: \project number\file name (includes 3 character extension)

Directory Path Example: \503-18-104\1-1-1-2019-Move Audiology and Pharmacy Plan.rvt

File names identify the drawing type and floor number. File names will contain alpha-numeric characters a-z and/or 0-9. Special characters are not permitted.

File name structure:

BN-f#-1-0000-Dwg Title.ext

BN = Building Number f# = floor number

1= Number of drawing within discipline series

0000 = Year

Dwg Title = Title of drawing

.ext = drawing extension (example: *.rvt)

File Name Example: 1-1-1-2018-Replace Security Camera System Plan.rvt (Building number-first floor-number of drawing within series-year-drawing title.REVIT file)

6. All architectural drawing entities (doors, windows, fixed equipment, etc.) shall be REVIT 2025 symbology. This shall include attributes for all doors, windows and reflected ceiling plans using the default REVIT 2025 system.

7. A BLOCK attribute shall be created for each space identified in VA Criteria, with the following information:

Room Number

Room Name

D. Hardcopy and Documentation The contractor shall supply a hardcopy of the following items:

-CADD data file listings of cd contents.

-Full size check plots of all drawings, fully identified with path, drawing name and attached reference files.

-Full size plot of special project specific symbology created by contractor.

E. Ownership

All CADD files created for this project shall be the property of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
