About this file
This document contains technical specification sections for an HVAC Replacement project, covering acoustical ceilings, refrigerant compressors, small-capacity split-system air conditioners, and selective electrical demolition.
Section 095100 - Acoustical Ceilings: Specifies painted mineral fiber acoustical panels measuring 24 by 24 inches with 3/4-inch thickness in white, installed in an exposed grid suspension system. Products must comply with ASTM standards for fire-resistance (Class A per ASTM E84) and acoustic performance (ASTM E1264, Class A). The suspension system uses hot-dip galvanized steel with baked enamel white finish, intermediate-duty structural classification per ASTM C635/C635M, with Tee-profile at 15/16-inch face width. Installation requirements include rigid securing with maximum deflection of 1:360, independent hanging from walls and structural elements, reinforcement where regular hanger spacing is prevented, and level installation free from defects, twists, warps, and dents.
Section 236100 - Refrigerant Compressors: Requires scroll compressors with 4.25-ton (14.9 kW) capacity per compressor unit, hermetic design with cylinder unloaders and crankcase heater, rated at 4 hp (2.9 kW), 200-230V, three-phase, 60 Hz. Products must comply with AHRI 520, UL 207, and ASHRAE Std 23 with Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) and Coefficient of Performance (COP) meeting ASHRAE Std 90.1 minimums. Refrigerants must have zero ozone depletion potential and global warming potential compliant with federal code. A five-year manufacturer warranty covering the compressor is required.
Section 238126.13 - Small-Capacity Split-System Air Conditioners: Specifies matched factory-engineered units with air-source electric heat pump, minimum 16 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. Wall-mounted indoor units deliver 18,000 Btuh heating and cooling output (5.28 kW) with copper-aluminum fin evaporator coils and washable pre-filters. Outdoor units use R-454B or R-32 refrigerant with aluminum-copper tube condenser coils and direct-drive axial propeller fans. Includes thermostat controls, economizer damper units, and precast concrete mounting pads. Installation must comply with NFPA 90A, NFPA 90B, and ASHRAE Std 15. Installer qualifications require minimum three years of experience approved by the manufacturer, with five-year warranty on heat exchangers.
Section 260505 - Selective Demolition for Electrical: Covers electrical system demolition and modification, requiring disconnection of systems in areas to be removed, maintenance of existing systems in service during construction, removal of abandoned wiring to source of supply, and removal of exposed abandoned conduit. Work includes disconnecting abandoned outlets, removing devices, and patching surfaces, with extension of existing installations using compatible materials and methods.
