About this file

This is a Fire Plan form (R6-FS-6300-55) used by the USDA Forest Service Region 6 in conjunction with related forms (R6-FS-6300-52, R6-FS-6300-53, and R6-FS-6300-54) for federal forest service contracts.

The Fire Plan establishes fire prevention and suppression responsibilities and procedures for contractors operating in Forest Service project areas. The contractor must take all reasonable and practical action to prevent and suppress fires in the project area, with suppression action required immediately upon discovery of or awareness of fires. The plan requires identification of key personnel including the Contractor's Representative for Fire Matters, the Contracting Officer's Representative, and Forest Service Inspectors, along with their respective contact information. The contractor must designate one or more fireguards responsible for fire detection and suppression, and must report all fires to specified Forest Service employees. The form documents whether the contractor will permit employee smoking and open fires in the project area, noting that neither activity is allowed without written authorization from the Contracting Officer's Representative. Fire precaution classes may be obtained from local sources, which are to be specified in the plan. The Fire Plan also requires documentation of the contractor's firefighting resources, including the total number of employees capable of performing firefighting duties and descriptions of available equipment by type, make, model, and size. Special fire qualifications of contractor employees are documented, including their best fire assignments and other relevant qualifications. The plan requires joint preparation and signature by both the contractor and the Contracting Officer's Representative.
