About this file

These are specification sections for LCIC Window Repairs, detailing requirements for four distinct window-related work categories.

Section 080100 – Window Cleaning requires contractor-performed washing of interior and exterior glass and frames for identified window assemblies. Cleaning must be completed after all other work is finished. The contractor must remove excess glazing materials and nonpermanent labels immediately after application, clean glass and adjacent surfaces after sealants cure, wash surfaces using methods recommended by the window manufacturer, immediately remove any stains resulting from the work, and clean surrounding surfaces.

Section 080110 – Window Weatherstripping requires replacement of all existing vinyl window weatherstripping in-kind. The contractor must submit product data for the vinyl weatherstripping system and warranty documentation. A five-year warranty is required covering seal failure, interpane dusting or misting, and providing replacement products for failed units. Specified sealant types include Type GC-2 Butyl Sealant (ASTM C920), Type GC-4 Polyurethane Sealant (ASTM C920), and Type GC-5 Silicone Sealant (ASTM C920), all in black color unless otherwise specified. Installation must comply with manufacturer instructions, and contact surfaces must be cleaned with appropriate solvent and wiped dry within 24 hours before sealing.

Section 080153 – Window Caulk requires replacement of caulking and joint sealants around exterior window frames. Approved sealants include products from Tremco (Spectrem 1, 3, or 4), Pecora (Dynatrol II or 890 FTS/NFT), and Sika (Sikaflex 2C), each with specified compatible primers. New sealant must match the color of existing sealants to the greatest extent possible. Installation requires removal of existing deteriorated sealant, application of primer and backer rod as needed, and complete filling of joint cavities with proper contact to substrate.

Section 088155 – Window Replacement requires custom-fabricated replacement windows replicating key features of existing units, including materials, glass pane configuration, glazing materials, and frame/sash proportions and profiles. Installation must occur per manufacturer instructions, with ambient temperature maintained at minimum 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) during and 24 hours after sealant installation. Contractor must protect surrounding elements, remove and store removable items during work, apply weatherstripping per manufacturer instructions, and immediately remove stains and clean surrounding surfaces upon completion.
