About this file
This document is an EJCDC® C-520 Agreement between the City of Gunnison (Owner) and an unspecified Contractor for a construction contract with a stipulated price. The project involves deleting 11 sewer cleanouts on service lines in the Sun Spot neighborhood, with work to be substantially completed by April 25, 2025, and final payment ready by April 30, 2025. The contract includes excavation and removal of cleanouts, line repair and restoration, site restoration including backfilling and repairing asphalt/concrete/landscaping, traffic and safety management, and comprehensive documentation and reporting.
The contract includes liquidated damages of $2,500 per day for delays beyond the specified completion dates. Progress payments will be made monthly, with 95% of completed work value retained until substantial completion. The City will provide pipes, fittings, and a community communication plan. The contract aims to improve sewer infrastructure by removing unnecessary cleanouts that contribute to inflow and infiltration issues, potentially reducing system capacity problems, treatment costs, and maintenance challenges. The total contract price is to be determined and will be a lump sum amount to be filled in by the parties.

EXHIBIT A
Project Title: Sewer Cleanout Deletion in the Sun Spot Neighborhood 25-08
I. General Information
The City of Gunnison is requesting bids from qualified contractors to delete 11 (eleven) sewer cleanouts on sewer service lines in the Sun Spot neighborhood. The cleanouts are no longer needed and must be removed to improve service line functionality, reduce maintenance issues, and address inflow and infiltration (I&I) concerns.
Inflow and infiltration, caused by stormwater and groundwater entering the sewer system through unnecessary openings such as cleanouts, can lead to capacity issues, increased treatment costs, and system inefficiencies. By removing these cleanouts and restoring the service lines, this project aims to enhance the overall performance and reliability of the City's sewer infrastructure.
The City shall provide pipe and fittings as well as the community communication plan. The project is expected to be completed in April 2025 to minimize disruptions and align with the City’s operational schedule.
II. Scope of Work
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
1. Excavation and Removal:
o Locate and excavate sewer service lines containing cleanouts identified for removal.
o Safely remove the cleanouts and associated fittings.
2. Line Repair and Restoration:
o Replace or repair the affected section of the sewer service line to meet applicable standards and ensure proper functionality.
3. Site Restoration:
o Backfill and compact the excavated area to the City's standards.
o Restore asphalt, concrete, or landscaping impacted by the work.
o Restore fences impacted by the work.
4. Traffic and Safety Management:
o Implement appropriate traffic control and safety measures to ensure public safety during the project.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain a record of cleanouts deleted, including location, date of completion, and any relevant observations.
o Submit a final report to the City upon project completion.
