About this file

This is a bus specification document issued by the Barrow County Board of Education in Winder, Georgia, for the procurement of up to 30 Type C passenger buses for the 2026-2028 fiscal years. The specification details comprehensive requirements for 72-passenger buses, including chassis specifications with minimum 220 horsepower inline six-cylinder diesel engines, 272-inch wheelbase frames, Allison 2500 PTS automatic transmissions, Bendix air brake systems with ABS, and 100-gallon fuel tanks. Body specifications require features such as tinted windows, air-operated stop arms, heated mirrors, dual heater systems with front and rear units, and a Carrier 120,000 BTU air conditioning system. Additional equipment includes eight-way LED warning lights, emergency exits, interior headroom of 77 inches minimum with blue seat covers, acoustic noise reduction materials, 2-way Kenwood radio systems, REI bus video systems, and Synovia tablets. All buses must meet current Georgia State Board of Education and Federal School Bus Specifications.

The document requires bidders to submit seat plans and detailed written explanations of any deviations from the specifications, with failure to document deviations potentially resulting in bid rejection. Bidders must include one service manual, one parts manual, one electrical schematics manual, and provide diagnostic software with OEM-specific tools for engine, transmission, and ABS brakes for one year, or alternatively supply a Jaltest CV kit with a rugged PC. Chassis components carry four-year warranties with unlimited mileage for front and rear axles, and the OEM representative must provide training to four Barrow County Schools mechanics at the customer facility within three months of delivery. Buses will be lettered as "BARROW COUNTY SCHOOLS" with sequential numbering beginning with 21__.
