About this file

This is a bus specification document for Barrow County Schools in Georgia, detailing requirements for Type C passenger school buses with flat floors and wheelchair lifts. The procurement seeks up to 10 chassis units for the FY2026-FY2028 contract period. Barrow County Schools has established detailed specifications covering chassis, engine, transmission, braking systems, and body construction to ensure compliance with Georgia State Board of Education standards and Federal School Bus Specifications. The specification document requires bidders to submit seat plan diagrams and clearly identify any deviations from the stated requirements in writing, with failure to do so potentially resulting in bid rejection.

The specification emphasizes comprehensive equipment and service inclusions, including a minimum 220 HP inline six-cylinder diesel engine, Allison 2500 PTS Series automatic transmission, Bendix air brake system with ABS, and a 60-gallon fuel tank. Body requirements include a flat floor design with four rows of continuous "L" track for three wheelchair spaces, a Ricon S5510 ADA rear-mounted wheelchair lift with Q-Straint tie-downs, acoustic noise reduction headliner, marine plywood flooring, and an interior headroom minimum of 77 inches. Additional mandated equipment includes a two-way Kenwood radio system, REI bus video system, Synovia 7P tablet with LMU-4233, and a Kidde fire suppression system. Bidders must provide OEM training for four Barrow County Schools mechanics within three months of delivery, along with comprehensive manuals and diagnostic software or a Jaltest CV kit. All buses must be numbered sequentially starting with 21__ and lettered with "BARROW COUNTY SCHOOLS."
