About this file
This is a Single Source Justification (Simplified Acquisition) document for high-power cables and connectors for the Air Force. The requirement is for 58 coaxial cables and 40 connectors with specific technical specifications, including the ability to transmit 800-2000 MHz RF signals, operate in extreme temperatures (-55°C to 200°C), and handle 1500-watt power levels. The specific cable type identified is the SFT-600 (P/N AA-9649), which was determined to be the only cable meeting the mission requirements after extensive market research.
The solicitation will be a small business set-aside for a firm-fixed price contract, with the contracting activity being 377 MSG/PKB. The document highlights unique technical requirements such as a minimum bend radius of 3.0 inches, weatherproof sealing with an IP 67 rating, maximum cable weight of 0.25 pounds per foot, and 50-ohm impedance. The contracting officer has determined, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), that only a single source is reasonably available, with the commitment to continue market research for potential alternative brands in the future.
