MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

SUBJECT: Single Source Justification for Knoll Systems Furniture, F3SF381117A001

1. The purpose of this memorandum is to document the circumstances justifying the restriction of competition for the subject requirement as a brand name purchase. The requirement consists of reconfiguring 73 existing Knoll brand workstations to include purchasing new parts to complete the reconfiguration. Additionally, 24 workstations will be added to the space that match the existing workstations. This acquisition cannot be fulfilled by Unicor as they are not a dealer for Knoll furniture. IAW FAR 6.302- 1(a)(2)(iii)(A), competing this requirement with Unicor or all other major furniture manufacturers will produce substantial duplication of costs in replacing the existing 73 workstations completely. This additional cost is not anticipated to be recovered through competition.

2. Based on the fact that the conditions identified above have been met, I determine that this is a brand name requirement IAW FAR 13.106-1(b).
