About this file

Summary: Bradenton Water Reclamation Facility Electrical Infrastructure Document

This file is a technical schematic document detailing the electrical infrastructure and main feeds at the City of Bradenton's Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) located in Bradenton, Florida. The document provides a comprehensive inventory of the facility's electrical distribution system, which is fed directly from Florida Power and Light through a 480V transformer onsite, with additional offsite facilities at Mixon and Tropicana similarly configured. The WRF contains multiple motor control centers (MCCs) and subpanels distributed across various operational areas including the generator building, sludge pumping station, digester, clarifier, chemical building, maintenance building, operations building, blower building, and filter lift buildings. The facility operates with three generator automatic transfer switches (ATSs) and includes numerous VFD/ASD-controlled pumps throughout the system. The main MCCs—designated M2, M1, 3, 4, and 6—each contain multiple main feeder breakers, feeds to subpanels, connections to various pumps and motors, and 120V transformers for control power. The Mixon and Tropicana facilities maintain separate MCCs (A and B at Mixon; P at Tropicana) with dedicated feeder breakers and pump connections.

This document serves as supporting technical documentation for the City of Bradenton's concurrent Request for Qualifications to select an engineering firm to conduct a comprehensive Electrical Capacity and Emergency Power Evaluation of the WRF. The schematic provides the baseline electrical system configuration that proposing firms must assess, including evaluation of existing electrical loads, available capacity, switchgear conditions, arc flash hazards, and recommendations for system reconfiguration and power monitoring improvements. The RFQ requires proposal submission by March 5, 2026, at 2:30 pm, with a pre-proposal meeting scheduled for February 11, 2026, at 10:00 am, and selection of qualified proposers through presentations on March 24, 2026, with award notice on March 25, 2026. No specific contract value, pricing structure, or set-aside designations are identified in the procurement announcement.

Text version

Bradenton Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is directly fed from Florida Power and Light through a 480V transformer onsite. Mixon and Tropicana, located offsite, are fed similarly.

All MCCs and noted subpanels are 480V.

All breakers are believed to be molded case circuit breakers with various configurations (relays, contactors, etc)

Many of the pumps are VFD/ASD controlled.
