About this file
This document is a Vendor Questions and Answers document from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services for Solicitation BPM051562, specifically for carpet removal and carpet tile installation at the DPP Silver Springs facility. The project involves demolishing approximately 9,216 sq. ft. of existing glued-down carpet and installing new carpet tiles in the same area. All work will be performed after hours and on weekends, with requirements for daily furniture reset and a phased installation plan. Background checks will be mandatory for all contractor personnel, who must be cleared by a security officer each day before entering the building.
Key additional details include the use of a facility dumpster for carpet and debris disposal, approval for standard 24x24 carpet tile sizes, and specifications for floor preparation involving encapsulation of existing glue with a minimum 4'0" feather finish. The project requires dust-proof partitions to contain debris, and all adhesives and materials must be non-toxic, low-odor, solvent-free, antimicrobial, and free of carcinogenic materials. No cubicles will be moved, only desks and chairs, and the DPP staff will handle any site visit photography, with pictures to be attached to site visit notes and uploaded to eMMA.
