About this file
The document is the City Clerk's Journal for the City of Cocoa, Florida, documenting the regular City Council meeting held on September 10, 2024. During the meeting, the City Council approved multiple items, including a significant contract award related to water treatment chemicals. Specifically, the Council approved awards to seven companies - Carmeuse Lime and Stone, Inc.; Genesis Alkali, LLC; Tanner Industries, Inc.; Univar Solutions USA, Inc.; Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.; Thatcher Chemical of Florida, Inc.; and Linde, Inc. - under solicitation B-25-01-BCPEPC. The Council authorized the City Manager to negotiate multi-year contracts if deemed in the best interest of the City, with the ability to execute related amendments and purchase orders up to the approved budget amount, pending the adoption of the FY2025 budget.
The water treatment chemical procurement is part of a cooperative bid through the Brevard County Public Entity Purchasing Cooperative (BCPEPC), with the City of Cocoa acting as the lead agency. The cooperative bid covers a range of water treatment chemicals including quicklime, soda ash, anhydrous ammonia, hydrofluosilic acid, carbon dioxide, ferric sulfate, liquid oxygen, ammonium sulfate, Wisprofloc-N starch, and liquid aluminum sulfate. The procurement allows member entities to place orders based on their estimated quantities, providing flexibility in purchasing. The approval was contingent on the FY2025 budget adoption, indicating a forward-looking procurement strategy that allows for potential multi-year contracts to potentially provide pricing stability and administrative efficiency for the participating entities.
