About this file
This is Addendum #1 to a competitive sealed bid solicitation issued by Gwinnett County, Georgia, for the Buford Highway Cast Iron Pipe Replacement Section A project (BL139-22). The project involves the replacement of cast iron pipe with ductile iron pipe and includes work such as directional boring for utility crossings, installation of butterfly valves, and restoration of paved and unpaved areas. Key specifications include the installation of four 16-inch butterfly valves at designated stations (0+11, 9+99, 16+09, 36+25) with a fifth unit included for contingency, standard asphaltic exterior coating on all ductile iron pipe with polyWrapping to specified station limits, and 6 inches of #57 stone bedding in paved areas only. A pre-bid conference was scheduled for December 1, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. in the parking lot of the Dollar General at 2696 Old Peachtree Road, Duluth, Georgia. The addendum confirms that there is no change to the bid submission due date and time, and all bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum on the bid form to avoid their proposals being deemed non-responsive. The plan holders list as of December 7, 2022, includes six plan holders representing construction firms from Georgia and Kentucky.
Gwinnett County expects each contractor to submit a competitive price, with award to be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The project has approved funding, though no specific budget amount is disclosed in the addendum. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) permit (Permit #1275698) has been approved but will not be activated until after project award and Notice to Proceed issuance, with no special permit stipulations noted. The addendum addresses multiple bidder questions regarding specifications, including clarifications on ductile iron pipe coating requirements, bedding specifications for box culvert crossings, and valve pressure ratings, all of which reference the project's specification sections and plan details available through the online plan room at bidding.bargedesign.com.
